It may not be a crowded place but it wasn't unusual for people to pass through so when she heard the sound of faint footsteps she didn't think too much of it, instead keeping her attention on the fish in front of her. The very, very last thing she expected was to hear a voice talk to her and when it happened? To say the least Val was surprised, in fact it was bordering on being frightened. Eyes grew large and the poor girl jumped to the side out of shock, only to find her feet landing awkwardly because she'd turned to see whoever it was, and ended up stumbling on the spot for a moment. Just. Wonderful.
There was a large part of her that wondered if she just turned around and walked away if it would be noticed. Of course, as she glanced up through her hair the sight of him standing there was enough to make the other part of her want to run too. What was he doing here? "Um..." He'd asked her something, hadn't he? She couldn't even remember! With her eyes on the ground after a moment or two she was blessed by some small miracle because remembered and whispered a "Yes," before slowly tucking her hair behind her ears, feeling extremely awkward right now. She just kept managing to make a fool out of herself, didn't she? With a quick glance his way from the ground she turned back towards the fish thinking she should say something but unable to speak. Or move. "They are." ... She annoyed herself sometimes.
