Mikaela did give him a smile, but it faded as soon as he started talking. She looked at the TV, trying to act like she wasn't listening, but it was a futile attempt, because not only would she not be able to help but hear anyway, it was written all over her face that she was getting a little upset that she was apparently causing problems with Brendan and Nancy. She wouldn't ever start spending less and less time with her best friend, so really, she wasn't going to help the situation much. But it sounded like he was putting his foot down, which definitely pleased her.
She watched him lean over and take that long swig off of his beer, and knew that they were going to have to do some talking after this, because she couldn't hear the other half of the conversation. She leaned to the side, propping her head up with her hand as she rested her elbow in the armrest and watched him. She decided to do the same, and moved to give him a little poke in an attempt to make him smile.
