There wasn't much to say when she apologised. Of course she was sorry. Keeping that kind of information secret wasn't exactly something everyone did. Yeah, he thought it was a stupid decision. Extremely stupid, actually. But for once in his life he was too stunned to actually say so. "Obviously," was the only word he got out before falling silent again awaiting her answer.
And then he got it and knew he'd been right. He hadn't wanted to know. A year. A whole fucking year. To say he was in disbelief right now would be an understatement. Nate had to look away for a moment, glancing back as if wondering whether she was about to say it was a joke. But of course it wasn't. This had to be the weirdest he'd felt in a long while. It wasn't usual for him to have two different reactions running through his head and he didn't quite know how to take it.
Obviously this was huge for her, right? She may babble on an awful lot but even if he only listened ten per cent of the time he'd still have known. She couldn't pass this up but.. a year?! "Would you get any breaks?" He should be explaining how he was feeling, that he wanted her to go but that he didn't because he'd miss her, but this was Nate. Unfortunately there was a one way street with thought patterns and right now that meant getting the information.
