Nate wasn't a complete idiot, he could tell when something was up if he cared and Marlene definitely fit under that caring category. He knew she had a busy life, he did, but the way she'd been acting was stupid. If she was skipping school just to sleep (yeah, he'd picked up on that, it really wasn't that hard) and practically falling asleep if she sat down for a while? He wasn't going to sit back and pretend like that was okay. She was going to end up driving herself into the ground if she wasn't careful. Sure, what she was doing meant a lot to her but there is a major difference between dedication and being an idiot about it. Call him a worry wort but come on, he didn't want her collapsing one day. Being that tired every day was not healthy and he was determined to make sure she understood that. To think Nate didn't even know the full story yet.
It didn't take long for Nate to pull up in front of Marlene's house. He had no idea what kind of bomb shell his girlfriend was about to drop but even just by talking to her on the phone it was easy to tell she wasn't alright. Nervous? A little but eh, he'd get over it. She was a drama queen anyway so it could be anything from something small to something huge. There really was no use in Nate even attempting to guess right now. With a swing of his hand the door to his car was shut and he made his way to her front door and knocked.
Sighing he swung his car keys around his fingers as he waited, trying not to wonder too much why she'd called. It could easily be nothing. Right.
