Walking up to the front door of the Matthews home, some small part of Anthony's brain acknowledged that he was insane for what was easily the hundredth time. Completely, certifiably insane. The majority of his brain was trying to ignore that voice. However, it was hard to do that when there was overwhelming evidence to support it. After all, Anthony Ingram did not care about people. And he definitely didn't make an effort where people were concerned. And yet, he had done just that, and he still didn't know why. Needless to say, that was endlessly irritating to him.
Then, she had announced that she was going home, and that had garnered an altogether unfamiliar reaction from Anthony. Why should he care if she left? He shouldn't even give it a second thought if she left New Orleans...right? Now, even though they had talked, she had still left. So what had he done? He hadn't called her or anything remotely simple, oh no. He had flown to Chicago to talk to her. Oh yes, logic was clearly his best friend.
After that, it had been a matter of finding the house, and that little search had only managed to put him in a rather testy mood. It was completely irrational, but now that he was standing at the door, he hesitated. He had fucking flown to Chicago and found her house, but a front door was daunting to him. What the hell was wrong with him lately? Shifting his weight from one foot to the other, he finally lifted a hand and knocked a bit more sharply than he had intended to.
As he waited for the door to open, the thought occurred to him that he probably should have thought about what he wanted to say before showing up at her door. This particular thought process was halted prematurely when a blond young man answered the door. Anthony froze for the briefest of seconds, mild surprise registering on his features. Recovering swiftly, he cleared his throat and asked, "Is...Abigail here?"
