Who: Grayson Lofton and Malory Page [The Genie and the 1st Ugly Stepsister]

Where: Their place
When: Thursday, April 24th, evening
Rating: PG-13
Status: Complete log
Malory was home alone, Gray having gone out with his sister for the evening to a movie and maybe to grab a bite to eat. She hadn't asked to come along but gave him a kiss on the cheek and sent him on his way, turning to look at her companions for the night as the door was closed. Watching him go out with his sibling made her want of them even stronger but she wasn't going to dwell on that. She wasn't going to try not to anyways. Making herself some mac and cheese (one of the only things that she could make without burning) she sat on the couch and enjoyed Dan in Real Life before turning the TV off and grabbing one of her books, laying down on the sofa and started to read. Malory had made it through maybe four chapters of her book before drifting off to sleep.
Grayson hadn't seen Manda in several days, and since they were relatively close, he never really liked to go too long without her. He felt a little bad as he left, because he hated leaving Malory bored and alone, but he did see her every day (which he loved), so hanging with his sister was something he deemed necessary at the moment. They had gone to see a movie, and practically fought over the amount of butter that they put on the stuff, per usual.
Grayson hugged his sister good night, and jumped in the car to head over to his and Mal's. Once there, he parked, got out of the car, and headed up the stairs to the door. Stepping inside, the two dogs rushed over to greet him, barking happily. As he leaned down to pet them both, he looked up to see where that lovely girl of his was, noticing her asleep on the couch. "Miss me?" He cooed at the dogs before making his way further into the apartment. He figured he'd get some work done, and made his way to his makeshift office.
The barking caused her to stir on the couch but she had grown so use to it she continued sleeping. The puppies had been going to training classes thanks to Clara (though she still didn't know why the woman had been so keen on doing so) and had been behaving really well as of late. There hadn't been any incidences involving chewing on shoes or peeing on the floor, nothing at all so she didn't have any flags going on at all. How was she suppose to know that over the last ten minutes they'd been in the bedroom going through Graysons things, ripping apart an essay draft he'd been working on for ages now.
Once Grayson got all the way into the room, that was when he noticed the little pieces of paper laying around. He didn't know what it was at first, naturally, but he was definitely curious, because something made him feel like it was something that he'd really prefer not to have scattered through out the room.
He picked up a small piece that was at his feet, and read what he could make out. That was his essay. One that he'd been practically slaving over for weeks now. "Oh. God." Was all he could say. "You're joking me." Malory was supposed to be watching the dogs. That was not watching them. He went into the living room, knowing she'd stirred a little. He was going to wake her up. He stood by the couch, but first, a puppy ran up to him. In a loud voice, he looked down at the dog as he spoke. "I am not happy with you. Go away, dumb dog."
Hearing Grayson suddenly so loud next to her she turned over on the couch, looking up at him with a smile. She had no idea that he was mad, let alone possibly mad at her, they'd been perfectly fine before he left to go to a movie with Manda. Stretching on the couch she offered him a smile, "How was the movie?"
Grayson's attention turned back to Malory. He tried to hold his tongue for the moment and not say something insensitive. She didn't quite know she'd done something to make him angry yet, and from what he could tell, they'd done that when she was asleep. When she was supposed to be watching them. She could have at least closed the door. "It was fine." His voice wasn't loud, but you could hear the bitterness.
Squinting her eyes a little bit, in that confused way she lifted a hand to her face and ran it over her skin, trying to wipe the sleep away. Pushing herself up from the laying down position she glanced at the puppy next to him and smiled, reaching out to scratch her behind the ears. "You okay?" She'd noticed the bitterness in his voice, and being who she was made her want to see if he was okay.
"No." He crossed his arms, and then broke that stance to point at Genie. "One, if not both, of the dogs chewed up my essay. It's torn to shreds." He crossed his arms again and clenched his jaw, causing his teeth to grind a little. Genie yipped at him, while Anastasia ran in to the kitchen to get some food.
"What're you talking about Gray?" She asked, looking as one dog ran out of the room and the other hid behind the corner of the coffee table with a small little yip. Her head tilted to the side as she looked up at him confused, "They were being angels tonight and Anastasia slept at my feet the entire time." Malory was going to feel terrible as soon as she saw what they puppies had done on her watch.
Grayson looked at her with one of those narrow eyed 'are you serious?' looks. The trying to hold his tongue part wasn't very easy when she said something that he didn't quite believe. "Oh, really? And how would you know that? You were sleeping when I came home, for one. And Two, even if Ana was right here with you, that still doesn't account for Genie."
"What do you want me to do? Ask them which one did it and tell them to put it back together?" Malory just didn't know what he wanted her to do about it. She had no idea what was going on in the first place, minus the brief mention that his paper was torn to shreds. "As far as I know neither of them have chewed on anything in three or four days..." Standing up she headed back to the bedroom to see what in the world he was going on about.
Grayson shook his head as she spoke, and then followed her into the bedroom. He leaned against the door frame, seeing her reaction. "That's not the point. The point is, you were supposed to watch them. Just because they haven't chewed up anything recently and they're in those obedience classes clearly does not mean that they won't chew anything up ever again. Am I supposed to believe someone broke in and decided to chew up my essay while you were sleeping?"
As she entered the room her eyes got huge and her heart fell some for various reasons, some involving her boyfriend and some involving her babies. Moving over to the mess she knelt down and started to pick up all the little pieces that she saw scattered about the floor. "Well forgive me for sleeping. I won't do it again. I'll take the first shift tonight if you don't mind handling the second, its only fair because I took a twenty minute nap and all." Shaking her head she placed the scraps of paper in her hand on the table and went back to gathering more up, "I never said that they didn't do it, I said that as far as i knew they hadn't been chewing on anything."
Grayson followed her in starting to pick up the pieces of the paper, growing a little more frustrated. "Again, Malory, not my point. During the day, you have to watch them. When they come in here, especially." He sighed and tossed some pieces in the trash can, part of him dying a little, because he had worked so hard on this for so long.
Malory continued to place the pieces she was gathering up on the desk, "No. During the day we have to watch them Grayson. And before you say anything else maybe you want to think about how they got to it in the first place. I'm not the one that left it lying around now am I?" She felt terrible enough as it was, she didn't need him pinning this on her because no one could completely control two mischevious puppies.
"But we weren't here. You were. They aren't just my responsibility and mine alone." With that, he got up and left the room, knowing he'd say something that he'd regret soon enough. They were both already being pretty snippy. He sat down on the couch and stared at the TV for a whole two seconds before he decided that he wanted to cook. He went into the kitchen and started gathering pots, pans, and ingredients.
"No you left them all for me so you could go out." She snapped back, following him to the bedroom door and nearly slamming it shut once he had walked considerably away from the door. As she was finishing picking up the mess there was some scratching at the door, figuring that Grayson was ignoring them out of his anger over the paper she walked to the door and let them in, telling them to go lay on the bed as she closed the door and walked back over to desk. Turning the lamp on she sat down in the chair, crossed her legs and started to dig out the rest of the torn up paper that Grayson had thrown in the trash when he'd helped her.
Yeah, low blow. That was a sensitive subject between them, but he deserved it. Not that he saw that right now. He just kept to meddling in the kitchen, planning on making a baked potato with Parmesan chicken. He was going to make enough for her too, should she want any. At least he was being considerate in that regard, because it seemed like he wasn't being such otherwise.
Malory could hear him banging around in the kitchen as she sat in the bedroom, not bothering to turn on the television or radio that they had in there. No instead she put her reading glasses on and started trying to put together the paper that had been lost. It wasn't going to be anything close to something he could turn in but at least he'd be able to rewrite it. Crossing her legs she looked over at the dogs and shook her head at how they were allowed to just be sleeping at this point, but it wasn't their fault she'd fallen asleep or that Grayson had left it within their reach. They couldn't and wouldn't be punished for something that was simply in their nature to do.
Grayson spent a good while in the kitchen, and once he was at a point where he could leave the food there, because it all needed to cook, he finally decided to at least try and talk to her again. He was still annoyed, but he was calmed at this point. He opened the door and saw her with bits of his paper put together, and his anger went away just a tiny bit more. "Food's cooking, if you want any."
Looking up when the door open she nodded her head, "Okay." Malory didn't know if she was too upset to eat or not yet, and since it was still cooking she could at least let him know that she'd heard what he said. Turning her attention back to the ile in front of her she grabbed another piece and tried to match it up with the part she had put together currently, only grabbing the tape and ripping a piece off when she finally found the one that matched all the rest of the writing.
Grayson simply nodded and went back out of the room, closing the door behind him. He didn't slam it, and just made his way back into the kitchen, sighing a little as he leaned against the counter and just waited... for either the food to be ready or for her to emerge, whichever one came first. He tapped his finger on his arm which was still entwined with the other one, and jumped a tiny smidgen when the buzzer sounded. He got out the food and set it on the dining room table, then went back to where she was. He opened the bedroom door and poked his head in. "Food's ready. It's on the table when you get hungry."
Setting the rather large secontio of the paper down she got up from the chair and headed towards the door, "Come on..." She patted her leg and both dogs followed her out of the room, Malory making sure to close the door so that they couldn't get back in the room. Making her way into the kitchen she opened the fridge and grabbed one of his beers, her not being a big drinker of it but wanting one at the moment. Malory then went and sat down at the table, looking at what he had made. It was definitely better than the mac and cheese she'd only half eaten awhile ago. "Smells good." Was all she offered for the moment, trying not to be too rude or anything to him.
Grayson wasn't exactly hungry. He just liked to cook when he got upset. But he was a guy, and he was always able to put the food away, whether or not he was starved or not. The popcorn was buttery enough to fill him up normally. "Thank you." He said in reply. He wasn't sure where to go from there. Getting himself a potato, he piled some chives and sour cream on it before reaching for the shredding cheese and saying "I shouldn't have been so harsh."
Malory took a piece of the chicken and set it on her plate, not going for a potato and just grabbing her knife and fork to start cutting into the meat. Giving a shrug of her shoulders she sighed softly, "Its done. Don't worry about it." Of course Malory was still upset that he had come down on her like that, maybe even more annoyed than upset but they were really the same thing now weren't they? Setting her silverware down she tried to twist off the cap of the beer but was failing miserably at it, even when using the bottom of her shirt. "Will you please?" She asked, olding out the cold bottle in his direction, her other hand tearing off the smallest bite of chicken and feeding it to Genie who had been sitting there the entire time.
Grayson felt a little dejected. He was trying to apologize to her, and she wasn't really accepting it. He tried to shrug it off. He deserved that. He'd probably do that same thing should the roles be switched. He reached out and took the beer from her, twisting off the top of it for her and handing it back to her before starting in to that potato in front of him.
"Thank you." Taking the beer back from him she took a long pull from it and set it on the table before eating some more of the chicken. Malory just really didn't know what he'd wanted her to do. The man had made her feel awful for letting the dogs get to the paper and it was going to take more than the time it took for him to cook a meal and a half apology for her to feel better at all. Besides, she'd told him not to worry about it.
Grayson didn't say much else as he just kept to his eating, not really even looking up from the food unless need be. Once he was done, he got up, scraped the excess food pieces from his plate into the trash, and put his cup and plate in the sink after rinsing them out. He walked over to the table and nodded to her food. "Done?" He asked. He'd noticed that she'd slowed down, and she was probably done, if not close to it, from what he assumed.
Malory had contempated taking her food into the bedroom when there wasn't much talk at the table at all, but she'd decided that would have just been downright mean to do. With nod of her head she handed of the plate and picked up her beer, "Just give it to the dogs." Was all she said as she went back into the bedroom and sat right back down at that desk to resume what she had been doing, still in silence as she did so. The bedroom door was left open though, that way the dogs could come join her if they wanted, or they could follow wherever it was the Grayson was going to be at. Malory didn't care how long it took she was going to put his paper back together, all five or six pages of it.
Grayson put the plate on the floor for the dogs to have at it as they pleased. When she just went back in the room, he sighed and went into the living room. He picked up his I Pod and put the headphones in his ears, and the actual device in his pocket after hitting play. He walked out of the door, and down the stairs to his car, grabbing the couple of boards he had bought that day. He walked back up the stairs, locking the door behind him as he went to go work on her shelf. Might as well do something productive.
It was harder than she'd originally thought to put the pieces together, some were slobbery and others were so wrinkled that it was hard to tell what it said. But after two more hours in the room by herself she'd finally taped the last bit of paper back where it belonged. There was a entire corner missing out of the first page and try as she might to find it the thing just wasn't anywhere around. The only thing she could come up with was that one of the puppies had accidentally swallowed it while they were being destructive. Getting up from the chair she left the bedroom and shuffled her way to her boyfriend, "There." Setting the not so new paper down in front of him and she turned to head back into the bedroom.
"Thank you." He said before she could disappear in the bedroom. He decided that was a good of a time as any to stop work on the shelf. He looked down at the papers. There was no way in hell he was going to start work on this tonight. It was late at this point, and he was tired, and drained.
He turned off his I Pod and put the papers in his backpack. He grabbed the plate off the ground and put it in the sink after rinsing it. Then he went through the bedroom to the bathroom. He needed to take a shower. He closed the door and started the water, then went to take off his clothes. He set them down on the floor and stepped into the shower.
"You're welcome." Going into the bedroom she climbed up onto the middle of the bed and stared at the ceiling, not even moving when one of the dos hopped up on the bed and curled up next to her. Her hand went out and started to absentmindedly run through its coat though, Malory simply thinking about how much she hated fighting with Grayson. There was a brief period of time where she thought about going into the bathroom and apologizing...but she didn't know what she'd be apologizing for. Sleeping? Well that was just silly. The dogs chewing up his paper? She'd put it back together for him. Not talking to him? Well he wasn't taking either.
Once Grayson was out of the shower, he dried himself off and remembered he'd forgotten to get clothes to change into. Oh well. Nothing she hadn't seen before, and he was going to have a towel around his waist anyway. He wrapped it around him, and walked over to the closet, getting himself some boxers and a shirt, and taking them into the bathroom and changing. He then made his way to the bed, wondering if she was going to scoot over and let him lay with her, or if she even wanted him to be in the bed with her.
Normally if he came into the room in just a towel she'd watch him, who wouldn't? It wasn't the creepy kind of watch either, just the glancing out the corner of her eyes with a smile...she didn't do that this time. He'd left the room to go change anyways, which to her, meant he hadn't wanted her to be sneaking any glances. Seeing him at the side of the bed she scooted over to be closer to the edge, but the dog didn't. Malory wasn't going to banish him to the couch or anything, but she wasn't going to be begging him to cuddle with her either.
Grayson laid down in what room he was given, glad that she at least wasn't banishing him. The other dog jumped up on the bed and laid at his feet as he got comfortable. Gray pulled back the sheets and got under them. Once there, he sighed and looked up at the ceiling. "I'm sorry." He didn't want to be the one to say those words first, but it seemed like it was going to be the only way to make progress.
"I told you not to worry about it." Lifting her head up she pulled the hair from under her neck over to one side, it having been bothering her as she too stared up at the ceiling. "You had reason to be upset." Rolling off the bed she went to the wall and turned the overhead light off and then came back to the bed, crawling back up where she had been before, on top of the sheets and not under them. Malory hadn't even changed into any pajamas yet but laying down seemed to be th best idea at the moment.
Grayson had pretty much had enough of that. Fine. He'd given her a half apology before, and full fledged, sincere one now, and both times, they were nothing. Okay. He'd gone half way, and that was as far as he was going to go. She was going to have to meet him, or just have him not talk to her until she did. There wasn't anything else he could do. He didn't know what else she wanted. He turned to his side, away from her, and nestled into the pillow.
Sighing softly she laid there a few more minutes before getting up off the bed and padding across the room to the dresser and pulled some clothes out of it and headed into the bathroom. Changing into them she set the clothes in the hamper and then, instead of going into the bedroom went to the living room and grabbed up a pad of paper, her favorite pen, and his essay. Turning on a table lamp to only light up the small corner of the room she sat in her chair by the window and started to copy down his paper as best she could. There was too much in the air for her to actually sleep so she figured she'd go back to righting her wrong. Malory didn't know what was up with her tonight but she just couldn't seem to say anything that was right. She had no idea what he wanted from her, what he wanted her to do or say.
Grayson watched out of the corner of his eye, but didn't really move much at all, not even when she closed the door. What else could he do? He'd tried to say he was sorry. There wasn't anything of grandeur that he could do at this point. He closed his eyes, and tried sleeping, but when she didn't come back for a good while, it was starting to make him wonder what in the world she was up to.
Finally, he was finished trying to sleep. He threw back the covers and got himself out of bed. He shuffled to the door and opened it, making his way into the living room, where he saw her working on his essay. "You don't have to do that."
Her legs where curled up in the chair and she was using her knees as a table while writing out his paper, concentrating hard on getting it right through all the lines and wrinkles so that it would make sense. A couple times she'd had to go through three words before feeling like an idiot and figuring out the correct one. Jumping slightly when she heard his voice she turned her head to look at him, "Yes I do. I let the dogs chew your paper so it's the least I can do. You've already written it once."
Grayson sighed. "It wasn't all your fault. You were right. I shouldn't have left the papers out so they could get to them so easily." He ran his hand through his hair and his eyes just looked over her head, trying to think of what else to say. He was willing to fess up and say that he wasn't the only one to blame. "If anyone, I'm more to blame. Both the dogs and my essay are my responsiblity."
"But you asked me to watch the dogs and I didn't do that as well as I could have. If I hadn't fallen asleep they wouldn't have gone in the bedroom." They had a thing for being with someone at all point and times, which was why you could hear their nails clacking on the floor as they came into the living room since Grayson was no longer in the bedroom. "I should have watched them better." *
Grayson sighed again, and figured he might as well be honest. "I'm going to be frank here. I'm trying to apologize, and I sincerely am sorry, and it was half my fault. I should not have some down on you like that. I don't know what else it is I need to say or do. I don't want us to go to bed mad at each other, although I doubt I'll be able to sleep anyway."
Malory stopped writing and looked up at him, "What do you think I'm doing Grayson? I feel terrible that all that time you put into writing this paper was lost because I didn't do something you asked me to do. It was my watch with the dogs. I can't sleep knowing that you're mad at me so I came out here to try and fix things. I told you not to worry about being rude to me because I probably would have done the same thing had it been something important of mine that was chewed up. I forgive you but that doesn't stop me still feeling upset that our entire evening was ruined."
"Okay. Fine. I tried. You told me not to worry about, and I told you you didn't have to do it. We're square." If she was going to keep doing it, making him feel bad in the process, there was nothing he could do about that. He picked up his I Pod that was on the table and headed back in the bedroom. He was just going to listen to music in the room, he supposed. There wasn't much else to do if he couldn't sleep, and couldn't work on that essay. He had tried, and that was all. He couldn't say he didn't.
As he left the room Malory sighed and looked out the window, chewing on her bottom lip before looking down at the paper. She knew that she didn't have to do it but it made her feel better knowing that she was fixing something that was her fault. After about five minutes of sitting there doing nothing she got up out of the chair and put everything up on a shelf where the dogs couldn't reach it. Padding into the bedroom she hesitantly climbed up onto the bed, not going to the gigantic amount of bed that was open but the tinier strip of it next to Grayson. Pulling one of the earbuds she looked down at him, "What am I doing wrong Gray? Why are you so mad at me?" There was genuine confusion on her voice and on her face as the questions quietly slipped out.
Grayson scooted over just a little to make sure that she could fit. Not that she was a big girl. Oh, hell no. But he wanted to make sure she didn't get cramped. Grayson furrowed his eyebrows at her. "Baby, you... You didn't do anything wrong. I was just frustrated. I was trying to apologize, and you blew it off. I tried to take my share of the blame, and you blew that off too, even if I'm as much to blame as you are, if not more so. I feel like every think I say or do isn't helping." He reached up and pushed some of her hair out of her face.
"I didn't blow it off, I just...I didn't know what you wanted me to say." Malory shrugged her shoulders and sighed softly, "I wanted to apologize but everytime I thought about what to say it sounded so stupid in my head. I'm sorry...I really am. Thats why I was trying to fix your paper. You've been working so hard on it and in about ten minutes I managed to let the dogs just rip it all to shreds." Malory chewed on her bottom lip before saying more, "I didn't mean to blow you off at all. And trust me, I'm more than happy to let you have some of the blame." She tried to throw a little bit of a joke in there in hopes to lighten the situation a bit.
The corners of Grayson's mouth went up a bit at her joke, and a small chuckle even managed to come out. "It's not stupid, Malory." He stroked some of her hair again, and watched it fall where it will. "It'll take me just a little longer to get it going again, but I'll do it. You don't have to do that. It's my responsibility. And I'm sorry I made you feel bad. You can talk to me though. You know that, right? No matter how stupid you think it is, I'll always listen. And I doubt I'll think it's stupid either."
He had laughed and that got her to give him a small smile, "I like puzzles so it wasn't all that bad...at least once you take away the few papercuts. And I know that I can talk to you, but I don't want to sound like an idiot when I do." That was another thing Malory was a little insecure about. He was bettering himself through school and she was just going through life as a waitress, she didn't even know what'd she'd do if she had the chance to get out of that service industry. "Waking up to you being angry at me is probably one of the worst things I've ever felt...I don't want it to happen again." She let her hand start to idly trace over the design that was on his shirt.
That statement made his smile fade some. He didn't like her thinking she would sound like an idiot period, let alone that he would think such a thing about her. Sure, he was about to graduate from grad school if all boded well, which he was confident they would, but that didn't mean she wasn't smart. He didn't think that. "Malory, I'd never think you were an idiot." He sighed, and his hand just kept stroking that hair of hers, trying to comfort her somehow. "I'm sorry." He'd said that a lot lately, but he was. He didn't want her to wake up with him mad at her, and the boy had a slight temper, yes, and there was no way he could absolutely promise it wouldn't happen again, but he could sure as hell try.
"I know you wouldn't." But it didn't mean she wouldn't, and thats all she was really getting at. Malory hated feeling like an idiot around him, he deserved someone smart and she didn't like to have any reason to think he deserved someone other than herself. "Me too." Liftig her eyes from his shirt to his eyes she offered a tiny smile, one that wasn't forced at all. She knew that it wasn't never going to happen again, but she didn't ever have to like waking up to him being upset with her. "I really am sorry."
Grayson wrapped her arms around her waist and rolled her on top of him, and then over to her side of the bed. "Well then, I think it's safe to say that all's well." Because it ended well, right? He leaned over and kissed her for a good minute before getting up and going to call the dogs into the room, and turn off the light and close the door. Now that they had everything settled, they could sleep well, right? Once Gray got to the bed, Genie had plopped down in the middle of it. He scooped the little guy up and laid him to his side, that way he could be in his spot, and close to Mal.
Malory couldn't have felt more relieved when he kissed her, smiling into it as one hand moved up to hold his cheek until he pulled away to go call the dogs into the room. That also made her smile because him willingly calling them in meant he couldn't be too terribly mad at them anymore right? Chuckling as the dog took Grays spot she managed a quick kiss on the head before Grayson scooped him up and took his place again. Mal curled up next to him, letting out a deep breath, "Does that mean you love them again?"
Grayson sighed, but it was evident that he was smiling as he did it. Grayson was an easy going guy, and he couldn't hate people for too long. Or canines, for that matter. "Yes, I love them again." They couldn't help it really. They were dogs. It was in their nature. "I didn't stop, actually." Same went for Mal. Even if they got in an argument, it didn't mean that he loved her any less. He pulled her closer to him and buried his face in her hair that was right over her shoulder.
"Good." She nuzzled back against him when he buried his face against her and smiled to herself, thrilled to be so close to him at the moment. Malory had honestly thought that there would be no cuddling tonight at all, no talking, nothing of what she had planned for when he got back from the movie. All she'd wanted was to spend some quality time with him but that had been blown out the window until now. "Because even if you did they weren't going anywhere so it's best you just stay loving them."
"Good. I would have been sad if they had went somewhere." He was clearly talking about the dogs and her at this point. He sat up only to pull the covers over them, jokingly pulling them over both of their heads and chuckling a little. "You tired?"
Laughing with him she turned to face him, cuddling up against him with a smile, "I don't know. I was trying to sleep wheny ou came home." And her eyes hurt from putting back together his puzzle of a essay. She had been squinting to hard. "You?"
Gray simply nodded his head and actually whimpered a little. Yes, he was tired. School, running about with his sister, then coming home to this madness that caused him to just cook and work on the shelf.
Wrapping her arms around him she kissed his forehead and nuzzled her face into his neck, "I love you." Her eyes were closed and she was happy to drift off to sleep next to him but she had gotten into the habit of telling him those three words every night and she loved hearing it in return.
"I love you too." He said sleepily as he pulled her as close as comfortably possible. Grayson was never one to hide his emotions, so he always told her that every night. More than once a day, it seemed like, really.
Remembering the alarm, he rolled over to turn it on, then rolled back up against her, nuzzling back to her and falling asleep shortly there after.
