Scarlett was going out for a cigarette, yes, but she had other plans as well. She got back in the elevator, traveled the few floors down, and walked outside. She put the cigarette in her mouth and lit it, and then she dug around in her purse for her phone. She flipped it open, and hit the green button once her phone had River's name highlighted.
River was sitting at work, having just got off of his lunch break. When his cell phone went off, and not his work phone, he ignored it on the first go 'round, but the second time it started ringing, he glanced at the caller ID. Scarlett. What did she want? He flipped open the phone and sighed immediately. Before she could say anything, he cut her off. "I'm at work. What do you want?"
Scarlett sighed back, and crossed her arms. "Your girl's sick, and she's convinced that you'll think she's begging for attention."
"What is she..." Then he knew exactly what she was referring to. "Where are you?"
"With her."
"Can you stay there for a while until I can get off?" The annoyance was evident in his voice. That argument that they had a while back was why she was pulling this. Scarlett agreed, and went back up to Alyssa's apartment.
She noticed the other girl had fallen asleep, so she sat and waited, taking the opportunity to turn on the TV while she waited for River.
River made his way there after half an hour, knocking on the door lightly. He wasn't too happy that his girlfriend felt the need to keep this from him.
Scarlett answered the door and let him in. "She's asleep in there." River made his way to where she was, and then didn't want to wake her. Instead, him and Scarlett sat there, him in his suit, her her dress, watching TV until Alyssa woke up from her nap.
