So...something resembling a heart-to-heart with Clara. That was new. Not to mention endlessly confusing. He didn't even know what to think anymore, really. Clara made it sound like it should be so easy, but he could never just come right out and say something like that. He wouldn't even know where to begin. Yet somehow, he found himself making the familiar trip to Emma's apartment.
Yes, he loved her and he would never want to lose her, but how could Clara be so sure? Clara claimed it was obvious to anyone with eyes, but he had trouble believing that. Emma already seemed perfectly happy with Alex, and Richard couldn't imagine jeopardizing their friendship by admitting something she might not want to hear.
Clara had even threatened physical violence if he didn't get his act together and tell Emma everything, but once again, that was easier said than done. After all, bruises could heal. Screwing up an entire friendship...yeah, that was a bit more complicated. Actually, maybe taking the beating and keeping his mouth shut wouldn't be such a bad idea. Nonetheless, he refused to turn back now.
He found himself outside the door of Emma's apartment despite the warring thoughts in his head. Of course, he stared at the door for several long moments before he actually managed to lift a hand to knock, but that was understandable considering that he was feeling unspeakably confused and uncertain at the moment. He didn't actually know what he would say when he saw Emma, and making things up on the spot was not really a skill of his, so this was really shaping up to be an interesting situation he was putting himself in.
