Lacey pretty much stuck with the same people every single night. They were like a tight knit little group. It was this very group that introduced her to so many things that her parents, and her brother, would shoot her for should they ever find out. But she blamed them. They were the ones who always tried to keep her from clubs like the one she happened to be in right now. She'd had a drink or two at this point. Even if she wasn't quite 21 yet, she'd learned how to get around that minor detail. Fake IDs. Sweet talking. And oh. Compliments. She was definitely not afraid to use her ability to get her places. Regardless, she'd taken notice of the guy half of the group finally arriving. ...And they brought the new guy. That new guy was definitely... Her friend tapped her on the shoulder, rudely interrupting her thoughts. "For once you need to stop staring at him and grow a pair." Her friend yelled over the music.
"What?"
"Stop staring at him and get the nerve to talk to him."
"I heard you the first time. I was trying to pretend I didn't know what you were talking about. Besides, I wasn't staring." She took a long swig of her drink and looked back over at him. Ooooh, yeah. She's been staring.
"Oh, for fuck's sake." Her friend grabbed her hand and starting dragging her to the other side of the club.
"Stop!" She was finally able to jerk her hand away. "I'll do it! Shit! I don't need a babysitter!"
"Act like it then. Go!"
It was his first uncover job with the FBI and already Ty was doing better than expected. From what his superiors had told him no one had ever been able to infiltrate the group they were trying to get to as fast as he had. And no newcomer was invited to the ring leaders club without some serious trust so all of this was a great thing. Ty might have been letting it go to his head the tiniest bit. All the ladies hitting on him, the guys inviting him out to the games and wherever else they went, it was almost too perfect to be true.
Tonight they were celebrating Dexters birthday, the big gun of the group, him and a handful of others showing up to the club a few minutes late after picking up Dex's gift -- a nice freshman from the college down the street. No sooner had he walked through the door and gotten a beer his eyes landed on her, the blonde that had been almost everywhere he'd been taken too. Maybe the pink streaks in her hair was what had first gotten his attention, or it could have been that she was the most beautiful girl he had ever laid eyes on. Either way it didn't matter. He wasn't suppose to let anyone get his attention.
Feeling a hit on his arm he looked at the guy standing next to him, his glance taken away from the blonde that was being drug somewhere by her friend and refocused on where everyone in the circle was looking.
"We should have kept her for ourself man. Dex has got to many girls hanging on him as it is.
"He'd kill you if you didn't bring her too him. She called him specifically so it wasn't a surprise. Grow a brain Jake." Ty chuckled and lifted the beer to his lips to take a long pull from it.
But she's a prime piece of ass. And I was so close in the car. SO close."
Lacey'd finally made her way over to the boys doing all the talking, and she couldn't help but overhear what they had said. She'd learned early on who she could mess with, and who she couldn't. These two? Lackeys. Since they were much taller than she was, she stood in front of them to see which lady they were referring to. "Who are we talking about?" She was finally able to spot the girl in the crowd, brought her drink to her lips and smiled. "He'd break her like a twig." She swallowed a sip before continuing. "I'm more of a tit girl myself, and she's seriously lackin'."
She turned to face the men again, making her way to the little spot between Jake and the new guy. Is that what she was going to call him? New Guy? You bet, until she learned a name. Before she could turn around to face the direction they were, though, Jake reached out and smacked Lacey on the ass, earning him a look before she turned back around. She wished she could mouth off more than she knew she could. So bad. She hated that aspect.
Taking a drink, she surveyed the crowd for a few seconds before finally addressing the extremely attractive man to her left. "You got a name, New Guy? Or should I call you just that?"
When a female voice suddenly joined the conversation Ty had to look down to see where it was coming from, pleasantly surprised to see it was the blonde and pink haired girl. Smirking as she started to talk about the other girl in question he couldn't help but join in, "Good observation." But before he said anything else he witness Jake smacking her on the ass and the glare that was given, one that was obviously saying she hadn't enjoyed it. "Hold on a sec..." he said looking down and the girl, easing her to face Jake more as he started to talk to the other guy, "I believe you owe her an apology."
"And apology for what?"
"Inappropriate touching maybe? Last time I checked you were complaining about the lack of ass you got so I highly doubt the one you just smacked is yours."
Jake laughed, "Dex allows me to have any girl in here I want..."
Now it was Ty's turn to laugh, "The last time I was with you and Jake he told you the next time you made a girl feel uncomfortable he was going to personally take care of it." Ty turned to look down at the girl, "Did that smack make you feel uncomfortable?" He didn't even wait for an answer before continuing, "Because I'd sure hate for that information to get to Dex." You had to know how to work the system, and if you wanted to get ahead? You had to make the people above you look like idiots.
Glaring at the other man Jake waited before looking at the girl, "Sorry I smacked your ass Lace. Maybe one of these times you'll let me do more than that?"
Lacey was about to interfere, and tell him not to do that. She would have said something along the lines of she didn't need him to stick up for her, but she was either cut off or a little too shocked at the fact that he was actually sticking up for her. She had to admit she was rather impressed. Not that much was needed in the way of that. ...And then Jake had said that. Her attention went from shocked to pissed. She turned her head to Jake, a small tilt of the head and a smile. "Wow. That'd make me unique, then, huh? Actually being the girl who agrees to fuck you?" Her expression darkened again and she turned her attention back to the crowd before continuing. "I'd rather conform with the rest of the flock, thanks." And she finished the rest of her drink with one hard gulp.
The look on Jakes face was priceless, "Ouch. I think you just had your balls handed to you on a plate Jake, better go reattach them." Unable to stop smirking he looked down at...Lace? That's what Jake had called her, and it was better than 'the girl'. "First of all to answer your question I'm Evan. Secondly, you seem to be fresh out of your drink and I thnik you just earned yourself a free one. What do you say...Lace was it?"
"Lacey, actually. Lace for short." She smiled, thankful that she was being offered a way out of the situation. She nodded, telling him that that was his cue to get her a drink. She followed him to the bar across the club, smiling to herself as she did so. She'd got him talking, and hopefully she'd be able to continue that. Once they stopped at the bar, she slid on to one of the barstools. "You know, you really didn't have to..." Well, she'd appreciated it, hadn't she? "I could have..." She stopped and sighed with a smile, thinking about what she really wanted to say. "I mean, thank you. For that." Not many guys around here would have done that. None that she knew of.
