"I haven't ever felt this way about anyone other than you," he admitted softly. "It's been six years since you moved away from Georgia and I can honestly say that not a day has gone by that I haven't thought about you."
A large smile was still covering Joseph's face as he returned her gentle brush of lips. Even though he knew it wasn't dreaming, he kept waiting to wake up. This all really seemed too good to be true.
Some would call the knock that followed a wake up call but the truth was that wasn't even capable of pulling Joseph out of their own little world.
His smile softened slightly and a blush crept into his cheeks. "I should let you finish eating," he told her as he gently put her back into her spot beside him. "I'll get the door."
Joseph didn't really give her the opportunity to protest before he'd stood and made his way over to the door. When he answered it, he swung it open wide. "Hel..."
As soon as he laid eyes on his best friend a brick of dread dropped into his stomach and his words trailed off. As horrible as it sounded, he'd been keeping his relationship with Hannah from Matt. Obviously, he would have told him after tonight but... he really hadn't been expecting to do it right this second. Not to mention, the entire romantic set up he'd prepared for Hannah explained a lot. Roses, candles, in door picnic... sure, it could be dismissed as a 'friend' thing but he knew Matt wasn't going to come to that conclusion.
