Who: Gracie Rhodes and Spencer Mastiff (Hickory Dickory Dock Mouse and Mastiff) What: "Hey, guess what. I decided to come to New York." Where: Spence's apartment When: Backdated to Tuesday afternoon, since Gracie arrived on Monday Rating: Mild Status: Incomplete thread. Closed. Possibly open to Zeke eventually.
Gracie was stubborn, there was no arguing there. Even though she had an address of a friendly face in the big city, part of her just hadn't wanted to go and see the city on her own terms before seeing it in the eyes of someone else. She wasn't sure if the address she had was even where Spence still lived; when she talked to his mom back in Jersey, she'd said that she hadn't gotten mail from her son, but the holiday cards she'd sent hadn't been returned, either. So there was a decent shot that the large building she stood in front of might be the right one.
With the weight of the large backpack on her shoulders, she looked up at the building. It was a nice-looking place, and she almost felt underdressed just standing in front of the place.
What was she going to say to him if he did live here, anyway? "Hey, remember me? I just kind of decided to move to New York." It sounded ridiculous, but it was the truth. What was she expecting from Spence, anyway? Well, it might be nice to learn where her brother was living. It also might be nice to have a familiar face to be around, maybe someplace to stay until she could find a place of her own. Oh yeah, and a job. She'd be needing one of those.
Gracie walked into the building through the first set of doors. The second set was locked, the kind that you had to be buzzed into from someone in the apartment building. She looked at the piece of paper with the address again to double-check the apartment number. Apartment 14H. All of the buzzer buttons along the wall had little paper slips beside the numbers with the tennants' names printed on them. All of them except 14H. It was a bit conspicuous at first, but then again, Spencer was in a famous musical group. It was likely he wouldn't put his name on his buzzer to keep from being hounded by fans.
It could be a huge mistake. She could have completely the wrong street, wrong building, wrong apartment number. But what other choice did she have? Gracie pressed the buzzer and waited. Even if Spence didn't live here, she'd be no better or worse off than she was right now.
