Weather like this almost always ensured that Matthew Kane was at home. He was a southern boy from the top of his head to the tips of his toes and he did not like the cold weather.
Sure, it was fun to be able to go out into the snow and play a few hours but the novelty was usually worn off by the time his feet turned to ice and his teeth started to clack.
Contrary to popular belief, Matt did try to keep his grades up. Occasionally, he might charm one of his self-esteemed challenged classmates into doing it for him but, sometimes, the boy actually did the work himself.
Which is exactly why he was sitting at his desk when his phone rang. After glancing over his shoulder at the phone that sat on his nightstand, he pushed his feet into the floor and sent his wheeled desk chair rolling in that general direction.
He smirked slightly when he checked his caller id but his voice was smooth as silk when he answered.
