"Emma, Emma, HELP!" Ellie knew it was probably rude to leave Ollie alone out in the common area, but she neededher sister. The boy was all.. fun and.. he wanted to play with Ashleigh's video games and Ellie didn't have a thing in common with him or even know how to play. Maybe it should have occurred to her that getting Emma involved wasn't the best idea in the world, but she was panicking. She needed her twin's help.
"He's all.. he wants to play this video game and there are so many buttons and I don't know which one does what and.. you're better with.. fun things and Ash is trusting me to keep him entertained while she's out with Ed and... Help?!"
Yep, Ellie had officially lost it. It was a good thing she had a twin to help her out with this.
Emma was laid back on her bed, laptop in her lap, as she scrolled through one of the largest Blind Sorrows forums on the internet. If you could meet one member from Blind Sorrows who & what would you do, seemed to be the most popular thread and she couldn't help snorting at some of the answers.
I would meet Sean and tell him i won't fuck him.... oh wait..
i would meet sean. he is hot
I would go with Sean cuz he's the hottest and has his own say in anything he fucking wants
I'd meet any and ask for money and when they said no I'd call them rockstar assholes
I'd find it fun to slap Sean, not because I don't like him or Blind Sorrows, just y'know. Be funny
I would want to meet sean 'caure i love him!!!
She wasn't the most studious girl in the world but the forum members' typing skills really broke her brain, sometimes.
Emma was completely lost in her own world until Ellie burst through the bedroom door in a panicked state. Startled, she sat straight up, almost dropping her computer into the floor in the process. "What? Wha..." she asked, almost afraid some mass murder was hot on her sister's heels. Of course, once the more conservative of the two had made her issue clear, Emma couldn't help but smile.
Ellie needed help entertaining Ashleigh's boy? Well, she could definitely do that, couldn't she?
"Calm down, El," she told her sister with an amused shake of her head. "I'll go out and keep him entertained..." Emma had never been one to waste time and she had already closed her computer and was inching toward the door. Oh, yeah. Emma was definitely all for keeping Ash's boy company while she was out.
Ollie, meanwhile, was clueless as to how panicked the blonde was. It hadn't occurred to him that video games would be a bad idea. It had always worked for him and Ashleigh and he'd thought nothing of it when the girl had excused herself for a moment.
He was entertaining himself, for the moment, blowing shit up on the screen in front of him, running over a few hookers and being chased by the cops. Grand Theft Auto was a fantastic game, all in all.
One attractive blonde replaced with another? Emma really didn't think the boy would mind too terribly much. Besides, as Ellie had said, she was the fun one.
After running her fingers through her hair and smoothing away any wrinkles she had in her clothes, she went out to greet the boy that had Ellie in such a tizzy.
"Hi," she spoke with a massive smile on her face. "I'm Emma."
She didn't sit down just yet because she wanted him to have the opportunity to take her in. She wasn't sure if Ellie or Ashleigh had mentioned that Ellie had a twin and some people could get quite confused when the other sister randomly appeared.
Another plus to waiting before she took what had been Ellie's seat was that she had the chance to look him over. He had shaggy blonde hair and seemed to be well built. If nothing else, he was definitely broad across the shoulders and, from her perspective, he seemed to be pretty tall. Yeah... there was no doubt about it, he was very attractive. She definitely had no issue with keep Ashleigh's boy entertained until she returned.
Ollie did a bit of a double-take, which resulted in the tragic crashing of his newest stolen car as he turned towards the voice and noted it belonged to someone who looked exactly like Ellie.
"Twins? Neat!" Hey, Ollie was a twin, himself, even if he and Jess weren't identical and he thought it was kind of cool to meet another set.
"Hey, Emma!" He grinned at her, stopping the game to give her more of his attention. "I'm Ollie."
Someone who looked exactly like Ellie and different all at the same time. People who knew the both of them rarely got them confused. Ellie was the quite, conservative one. Emma was... well, let's just say she wasn't quiet or conservative.
"Yeah," she grinned brightly and nodded. It was nice that he'd picked up on the fact that they were twins without her having to explain it to him. Though, when sh thought about it, their being twins was the only logical explanation. Anything else would point to Ellie having a flirty split personality.
She hadn't missed the sounds on the TV and she knew that she'd caused him to crash his car and, honestly, that amused her a little.
"It's nice to meet you," she told him before making her way over to the couch and sitting beside him. "Ellie came through," she nodded her head toward their bedroom, "and told me that there was a handsome man out here playing video games... I had to come see for myself." Pause. "Hope you don't mind the swap."
Most guys seemed to prefer Emma over Ellie but if this one didn't, she would have been more than willing to send her sister back out.
It wasn't really all that tough to figure it out. Sure, it could have been a split personality thing, but twins was the more logical conclusion. He grinned as she took a seat next to him, shaking his head.
"Not at all," he agreed. This girl seemed a bit.. friendlier? That wasn't really the right word, but he couldn't help feeling a bit more comfortable with this one. Besides, they were both hot and this one was flirting with him. He briefly thought about Hayden, but it wasn't like they were.. anything. Which was maybe his fault, but still. Nothing wrong with a little flirting, right?
"So.. what's fun to do around here, Emma?" he asked with another grin.
Emma was completely and utterly unattached. Sure, there was Sean and David but they were more... friends with benefits than anything else. Definitely not the sort of relationship that would keep her from hitting on the pretty boy that currently sat at her side.
"I suppose that depends on what you like," she flirted shamelessly. "If you're tastes include blonde, perky, and cheerleader, I'm certain I can find something fun for us to do."
She flashed him one of her usual smiles.
"So... what are your tastes, Ollie?"
Ollie wasn't exactly attached. Not technically. Anyway, he was just talking to what seemed to be the spunkier of the two twins. And grinning at her, apparently.
"Hmmm.. well, I don't really know a lot of perky, blonde cheerleaders," he admitted, "though I have to admit, I'm liking what I see so far."
Oh, and flirting with her, apparently. It was fun, though, and it wasn't every day that a high school boy had a college girl flirting with him.
"That's a shame, Ollie," she told him with a very serious look on her face. "We'll just have to get well acquainted before you go home. All boys should have at least one perky, blonde cheerleader in their life."
Emma flashed him a bright smile. After a moment, she glanced at the television. "If you really have your heart set on playing video games, I can join you. If you'd rather find a board game, I can help you with that. If you'd prefer to get out of the dorm for a bit, I can take you out." Pause. "Do you see the trend? Basically, I'm at your complete disposal. Anything you want, until Ashleigh and Ed return."
To be fair, Emma didn't know how Ollie felt about Ashleigh. Sure, she'd heard his name mentioned and she'd been privy to the whole skinny dipping incident, but that didn't mean that he really had a thing for her prudish suite mate. In short, she wasn't rubbing the whole Ashleigh/Ed thing in his face.
"Anything I want?" Ollie flirted. Intentional or not, Emma's teasing had poked the green-eyed monster inside him and reminded him of why Ashleigh wasn't here right now. She was on a DATE. With her BOYFRIEND. Mr. Football big deal quarterback guy. Really, if Ollie had known she was into football players like that, he might have tried something with her years ago.
He shifted a little closer to the girl, leaning in a little so his breath tickled against her ear as he continued. "Let me ask you, Emma... what would you choose if we could do anything you wanted?"
"Anything you want," she repeated, her tone growing a little more suggestive that time around.
Suddenly, Emma was glad that her twin hadn't been able to keep the boy properly entertained. What they were doing here was much better than sitting in her room and pining for a boy who was practically on the other side of the country.
Even with the flirting and suggestive comments, she hadn't expected him to take as much initiative as he did. Her skin prickled when he leaned into her to speak directly into her ear. "Oh, I don't know," she murmured, turning her head so that his breath was brushing over her lips rather than her ear. "You are more than enough to keep me entertained for at least a few hours."
Her eyes locked with his, then, and a part of her willed him to take their flirting a little further. Who cared if she'd just met him... she was in need of a distraction.
Emma was about to get her wish. Ollie didn't normally go around just kissing random cheerleaders, but it seemed like a really, really good idea right now. They'd been flirting, he was bored, she was hot and.. really, he couldn't think of a good reason not, which might have been because he was thinking with the wrong head at this point.
"Am I?" he questioned, his voice a little huskier and he leaned in that little bit more to brush his lips over hers. She'd been so close already and he really didn't see a need to resist kissing her at this point. In fact, it seemed like a fucking brilliant idea.
Emma couldn't honestly say that she didn't do things like this on a regular basis but that didn't matter at the moment. She'd been moping before she found the rather attractive boy on her sofa and this was exactly the sort of thing that cured such... emotions.
"Oh yeah... I'm certain of it."
She smirked to herself when he closed the gap between them and brushed his lips over hers. This had definitely been an amazing idea and she'd have to be sure to thank Ellie later.
Emma shifted a little closer and, after a moment, she deepened the kiss. It was nice to find that she hadn't misjudged his skill... he was more than capable of keeping her entertained for quite a while...
This was certainly better than the video games he'd intended to play tonight. Emma was good at this kissing thing and Ollie was definitely not complaining about the change in plans.
He shifted her a bit more, pulling her into his lap as the kiss deepened. One hand moved into her hair while the other rested lightly on her hip.
Ollie ran his tongue over Emma's lower lip, almost humming at how enjoyable this was. No, he definitely, definitely wasn't objecting to this way of passing the time.
Emma enjoyed playing video games just as much as anyone else but this happened to be her activity of choice and she was certainly glad he'd not been opposed to sitting down his remote control for another form of entertainment.
At his urging, she moved into his lap and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. She groaned quietly when the tip of his tongue grazed over her lip but she quickly pulled it into her mouth and gave it a suck before pulling at his bottom lip with her teeth.
He was really really good and she couldn't help thinking yet again that Ashleigh had amazing tastes.
Ollie couldn't help the answering groan that slipped past his lips as she tugged at his lower lip. That was freaking awesome and with the way things were going now, he definitely wasn't likely to put a stop to what they were doing anytime soon. Honestly, if he had to deal with Ashleigh being out with her boyfriend, he really couldn't think of a better way to pass the time.
"Mmmm," he made and approving noise as he returned the playful tugging of lips, pulling each of her lips between his and sucking gently. Kissing a college chick? Definitely not the worst part of his visit to Boston.
Emma was quickly getting wrapped up in the kiss. Without thinking, she rolled her hips against his and gave another quiet moan at the friction that caused. He felt... amazing. Then again, Emma had rarely found a boy that she didn't like in some way or another.
She pulled at his bottom lip, again, and raked her teeth over the tender flesh before she began brushing heated kisses along his jaw.
To be honest, she wasn't sure of his age. She assumed he was younger than her but that didn't show in the level of skill he was demonstrating here and that was really all that mattered.
Ashleigh was having an amazing birthday. Ed had made cupcakes for her. Sam had thrown her a birthday party. Ollie had flown in from Chicago just for the occasion and she was going to be able to spend her evening with him. Really, this day couldn't possibly get any better.
After dinner, Ed had walked her to the door and it had taken at least five minutes for her to work her way out of the kiss he'd pulled her into. She'd said her goodnights and promised to see him just as soon as Ollie had gone back home before making her way up to her dorm.
A huge smile covered her face as she entered her dorm but it faltered when she saw... them. Words couldn't even describe the expression of hurt, disgust, annoyance, and jealousy that crawled over her face as she stared at the pair.
"I guess I'll just... go shower," she mumbled as she brushed right past them, went into her room, and slammed then locked the door.
She had no right to feel the way that she did but emotions never made sense and it was probably best if she simply hid away until she could control them.
Stupid Ollie. Stupid stupid Emma. She hadn't thought it was possible for her to hate the girl more but she'd just proved her wrong.
Ollie didn't hear Ashleigh right away when she came in. He was a bit lost in what he was doing with the cute little cheerleader on his lap, particularly when she ground her hips down against him like that, and her mumble didn't quite grab his attention.
The door slam did, though, and he pulled back, looking a little bit confused. "What was that?"
Like Ollie, Emma was completely distracted and paid absolutely no attention when the other girl entered the room and her softly mumbled words definitely didn't pull her from the world they'd lost themselves in. Of course, the slamming of the door hadn't gone unnoticed but her lips had been working diligently down his neck and she really hoped he'd be just as willing to ignore it.
When he questioned the noise, she hastily pulled away to survey the room around them. "I think Ashleigh's home," she murmured when she realized the girl's door was closed. Then, as if it wasn't remotely important, she pressed her lips back to his neck. Who cared if the girl was home? Emma certainly didn't. She wasn't remotely finished with him, yet.
Ashleigh really couldn't wrap her brain around it. Ollie and Emma. Why did she always insist on going after the guys that belonged to her?
Unable to process her emotions, she paced angrily around the room a few times before flopping down on her bed. It was silly but she'd really been looking forward to spending her evening with one of her best friends but... well, that obviously wasn't in the cards. Obviously, he had plans for the evening.
She should have known better than to leave him alone.
Stupid fucking Emma.
As much as Ollie had been enjoying himself, he couldn't just sit there now. That door slam.. if that was Ashleigh, obviously something was wrong and he needed to figure out what.
"Sorry, Emma, I should see what's going on..." He gently moved her from his lap before going to knock on Ashleigh's door, not even stopping to consider she could be upset over him.
"Ash? Are you in there.. what's going on?" he called through the door.
Emma whined a little when he made his apologies and pushed her away. That was completely and utterly unfair. They'd just been getting started and she... wasn't remotely finished. She pouted slightly when he moved over to the girl's door and began calling to her through it. Why was she always passed over for that prude?
Regardless of his apparent confusion, she was pretty sure that the girl was annoyed because of what she'd seen when she'd gotten home. She watched for a moment before sighing quietly and making her way back to her own room.
That Ashleigh was definitely a buzz kill. Couldn't Ed have kept her distracted for at least an hour more?
Ashleigh was flat of her back, laying on her bed, looking up at the ceiling when Ollie began to peck at her door. A large part of her just wanted to ignore him. If she ignored him, maybe he'd just go back to what he'd been so distracted with just moments before. Stupid, slutty Emma. Really, if she didn't hide her pencils, her suite mate would hump them when she wasn't looking.
"Nothing. I'm fine," she called, not even looking up at the door when she did so. "Just... go back to what you were doing." She rolled her eyes in annoyance and sighed once she'd spoken to him. Had she mentioned how much she disliked Emma?
It was likely rude of him, but he didn't even notice when Emma left the room. He was focused on Ashleigh the moment he'd realized she was back and even more so now that he knew she was so obviously upset about something.
"Then come out here and spend some time with me, please?" he requested, leaning his forehead against her door. "I've got to fly home tomorrow and.. there are video games out here. Or we could watch a movie - with your amazing movie-picking skills, I'm sure we can find something horrible to laugh at.."
"You don't have to... you were pretty well occupied... you don't have to stop because of me," she answered him, a little emotion actually showing in her voice. Ashleigh knew how stupid it was to be upset about this but she'd been looking forward to coming home to spend time with him the entire time she'd been out with Ed. She couldn't explain why but finding him like that with Emma had really hurt her feelings. It made her feel as if he hadn't really come to see her. Not to mention, it made her inexplicably jealous, too.
This was really not how she'd pictured spending the rest of her night. Ollie was one of her best friends and he was only in town for a very short while. She didn't want to spend that time talking to him through a door. With a sigh and a definite flounce, she stood up from the bed, went to the door and flipped the lock. Without saying a word, she went back to her bed and laid back down.
At least she didn't have him locked out of the room any longer?
"Don't be ridiculous, Ash.. I want to spend time with you.." Ollie didn't get it and the moment he heard the click of the lock, he opened the door, moving into the room and closing it behind him.
One look at her told him something what definitely wrong, despite what she'd said before. "Ashleigh Barton, what on earth is wrong?" he demanded, arms crossing as he stopped to stare at her. "And don't say 'nothing' like I'm dumb enough to buy it.."
Ashleigh barely lifted her head when he entered the room and demanded to know what was going on.
"Nothing,"she told him, ignoring the fact that he'd just told her not to say that. "I'm fine. You should just go back to what you were doing. I think I'm going to shower or something."
She was lying. She didn't often lie but she really didn't want to tell him that she was jealous or upset or hurt because he'd had the slut of the year in his lap. Besides, she had no right to feel these feelings. Just moments before, she'd been in a similar position with her own boyfriend. In her defense, though, she hadn't rubbed it in her best friend's face. She could have easily had Ed walk her in, after all.
"I don't want to go back to what I was doing," he argued stubbornly, "I want to spend time with my best friend who I came all the way to Boston to spend time with on her birthday."
He sighed, close to pouting, because she was obviously upset or maybe she'd just changed her mind about wanting him here.
"I guess if you don't want to do that, I'll just go to bed," he added, sounding every bit as hurt and confused as he felt.
Ashleigh gave a slightly exasperated sigh when he argued with her. Regardless of what he was saying, she didn't believe that he wanted to spend time with her. Honestly, he wouldn't even be in the room with her now if she hadn't made a scene when she'd gotten home.
"I do want to spend time with you, Ollie," she told him as she sat up so that she could properly look at him. "I've been looking forward to spending time with you all night. Really, I couldn't get home fast enough. I was excited about this. I just..."
She allowed her words to trail off there. Honestly, there was no way she could explain what she was feeling so she simply shook her head. "Let's not go to bed, yet," she murmured after a moment. "I don't know when I'll see you again and I'd really rather not spend the time sleeping. I... I miss you, after all."
Her eyes were almost pleading as she looked up at him. Couldn't they just be them without any issue? They'd been doing it before... before her stupid, slutty suite mate had gotten in the way.
Ollie didn't really understand what was going on, why she was acting like such a.. girl, but he wasn't going to push it.
"I don't want to spend the time sleeping, either, Ash," he told her. "I want to spend time with you. That's why I'm here."
He really, seriously didn't get it. She was the one who'd gone out on a date and then she'd come home and acted like she didn't want anything to do with him all of a sudden. It didn't make any sense at all!
There was no possible way that Ollie could understand this. These were her emotions and she couldn't even understand them. She'd just gotten so... there weren't even words for it, but she'd been so upset when she'd found him with Emma.
"I know. I'm sorry," she sighed. "I can't explain it but... there's no way I'd give up the opportunity to spend time with you."
Ashleigh forced a smile before pushing herself off the bed, crossing the room and pulling him into a hug.
"I'm so glad that you're here, Ollie. My birthday wouldn't have been the same without you."
Ollie wasn't hers. He would likely never be hers... not like that, at least. When it came down to it, she didn't even want him to be hers like that. She had Ed. She just couldn't help the jealousy that seemed to come over her... the distinct 'that should be me' feeling that seemed to blot out every other thought in her head.
They weren't going to fight, though. Not when the rest of the day had been so amazing.
Ollie was happy to return the hug, happy to sweep whatever that had been under the rug and get back to enjoying some quality time with one of his best friends. That was what he had come here for, after all, wasn't it?
After several moments of hugging her, he pulled back and slipped an arm around her shoulders and nodded toward the door. "Hey.. don't you owe me a tour?" he asked with a grin. "If you're going to woo me to BC next year, you have.." he paused dramatically to check his watch.. "about 12 hours.."
She couldn't explain it but everything just felt... better after he hugged her. At the end of the day, it didn't really matter how she had him. Ollie had been in her life for as long as she could remember and as long as that never changed, she'd be happy.
"I guess we'd better get started, then," she grinned up at him, "because I would definitely love having you here next year."
It probably wasn't the best idea but Ashleigh left her cell phone on her dresser as they made their way out of her dorm room. He'd been so patient through the party and during her date and she felt that it was only fair for him to have her complete, undivided attention for the next twelve hours. The rest of this visit was going to be gold, she'd make sure of that.
