"You're not going to school today."
Dari had just stared at Jeremy over breakfast when he'd made that demand. It wasn't unusual for him to occasionally convince her to stay out for a day, for him, but he usually wasn't quite so direct about it and it took her by surprise. It was her birthday, though, and she realized he probably had something planned, just as he always did. She smiled at him as that occurred to her and nodded her head. "Okay.." she agreed, looking at him expectantly, as if he was going to provide some explanation.
He didn't just yet, though. Probably wanting to keep her in suspense a bit more, so Dari went through her guesses - all of them dead wrong - as to what he had in store for them as worked her way through the amazing breakfast - French Toast with strawberries and cream on the side - two of her breakfast favorites - that he'd made her.
Jeremy spoiled her far too much. Honestly, this alone would have made her happy, but she knew him and she knew there had to be more coming. She tried to make him tell her what he'd planned, but his lips were sealed until after they'd finished and he walked her back to his bedroom, hands over her eyes until, finally, he whispered in her ear.. "open you eyes, love.."
There were a few gifts laid out for her on his bed. A Shakespeare in the Park t-shirt, a small jewelry box (from Tiffany's, of course - did he shop anywhere else?) and.. paper. Curious, Dari inspected the strips of paper more closely, eyes widening as she realized what they were.
Tickets to Disneyland.
"Jer.." she stared at him speechless for a moment, the other gifts forgotten for the moment as she moved towards him, throwing her arms around him in a tight hug. As usual, he'd managed to find the most perfect thing, the thing she'd needed most and she loved him for it. "You're amazing," she whispered as she hugged him tightly.
She'd get to opening that jewelry box in a moment. Right now, she was going to hug her boyfriend.
