Who: Brittany Thomas (Tweedledum), Ashley Light (Slightly), Quinn Roland (The Thief), and an NPC
What: Britt gets her dream job offer
When: BACKDATED, January 2, 2008
Status: Narrative/Complete
Britt was out making the most of her Seattle visit, having a blast out clubbing and bar hopping, doing what she did best… having fun and looking gorgeous. Her ever present piece of gum was nixed so she could drink, appletini at that particular moment. She didn’t know where Harry was off to, she’d gone out without him, but she didn’t think he’d care and she could have a fine time by herself. Britt didn’t need anyone to party with, in her opinion, she was the party.
She’d wound up at some bar, and she was enjoying herself. She never had to pay for her own drinks, plenty of people were hitting on her, and she’d found someone with incredible taste in clothing.
Ashley found the blonde amusing. This might have been because she was buzzed, but Ash was the kind of person who liked people who liked to have a good time and Britt was one of those people. Ash didn’t really go into talks about fashion that much, except with Jules when they were doing girl time, but she did love clothes. Mostly because they were a great showcase for her amazing body. One could never say Ash didn’t know she was gorgeous. In other circumstances, these two might have had a bitch fight, but they were getting along just swimmingly when a tall charming man came over and ordered them drinks.
Quinn could appreciate girl talk. He figured it was because he spent so much time with Glory. Also, in the company of two such gorgeous women, he didn’t much care what they were talking about. He was out to unwind after a big case load and just was looking for a relaxing time. He sort of knew Ash from the party scene, they’d run into each other a few times, so he knew she was good fun. Other than that, well, he had no agenda.
Britt wasn’t beyond hitting on the gorgeous guy currently paying for her drinks, and she did flirt shamelessly, all while maintaining what for Britt constituted a serious conversation about fashion, the sad state of most of the people in the club, and the importance of making bold choices. So when an older man tapped her on the shoulder, she turned around, gave him her best spoiled princess smile and says “you’ll have to wait your turn” before turning her attention back to her two companions, she thought nothing of it.
The man cleared his throat. “Actually, miss… I work for the Seattle Buzz, the television and internet source for everything hot in Seattle. I couldn’t help but over hear your conversation. I want to offer you a job” he said, handing her his card. Britt took it and put it down on the table.
“Sweetie, I don’t need the money. The only reason I work is so daddy doesn’t cut me off to teach me a lesson” she responded. “But you can still buy me a drink if you want.” The man shook his head.
“Could you at least come in for a screening? You are exactly what we are looking for, gorgeous, fun, and passionate about fashion. We are looking for a fashion guru for our viewers and reader. We want someone young, fresh, with an understanding of fashion and a passion for it. You’d do television broadcasts, you’d have the freedom to cover what topics you wanted…” he contintued, not pausing for a breath.
“Wait… seriously?” Britt asked, pursing her lips. Her tongue slipped out a bit, reflex action, to blow a bubble of gum she didn’t have. She pulled a piece out of her tiny purse and popped in into her mouth. There, she could think now. “I’d have to be in Seattle?” she asked.
“Well, yes” he said. “If you aren’t a native we can work something out…” he left that sort of open. Britt laughed.
“I told you I didn’t need the money” she said, snapping her gum. Oh, but still. To do something like that and be on tv… talking about fashion. What better kind of job was there? So much better than her spa job by far. Totally something she’d actually LIKE doing. Plus, people would so want to be her even more. And daddy would be so PROUD! But Lewis was in Chicago. She reached out for her twin mentally and found just a slight touch. It was getting harder for her to get a read on him and she felt like they were growing apart. That would just become more of a problem if she moved half the country away. She frowned for a moment, fingering the card. Lewis was Britt’s whole life. They’d never really been apart before. She didn’t know what to do. Turning her charming smile back on she put the card in her purse. “How long is the offer good for” she asked. “A girl like me can’t just up and leave you know...” she added, haughtily.
“Take your time, but I’d like to know if I should keep looking. You are exactly what we are looking for, but if you can’t, I’m going to have to make do with someone else” he replied. Britt shrugged.
“I’ll think about it” she said, dismissing him and then grinning at her new friends. “Well, I did know I was fabulous” she said with a laugh.
