Ana had perked up a little when Caleb had produced a delicious looking bowl of chili. They'd discussed such a meal on the way back from New York and she'd hoped his offer still stood.
Her entire face lit up as he held the spoon out to her and she wasted no time sliding it into her mouth. She rolled it around on her tongue for a second before humming. "Mmmm, good," she purred through half closed eyes. He was feeding her chili and rubbing her feet? Could this break get any better?
"We should trade," she teased as she leaned forward and playfully pulled his bowl in her direction.
Caleb hadn't blown anything by kissing her. Not really. He'd just apologized and acted as if he hadn't wanted to kiss her to begin with. She was only playing off of the way he had acted.
"Not like us," she corrected softly. "Besides, I'd never break your heart," she winked back at him.
Honestly, she assumed his crack about leaving him in the dust was just another of their teasing jokes but her answer had been serious. She'd never purposefully break his heart... not like others.
"Gonna miss me this weekend?" she asked with a smile. "My friend Char is in town. A few of the others picked up my shifts so that I could spend time with her.
