Zephyr had barely come in through the door before the phone rang, effectively scaring him and dispersing all thought of hiding in his bed.
Answering, he'd barely time to say his name before Caleb got straight to the point. Zephyr's first reaction was to deny, or explain away the whole thing. Then he reminded himself what he's realised just an hour or two earlier - honesty was the key. But did it have to happen so soon..?
It was with a barely audible whinge, a far cry from his usual harsh explanations, that he said, "...Yes. I did." It didn't occur to him right then that he had no idea why Caleb was so angry about it. Just the fact that he was made Zephyr feel bad.
