Gus was surprised by the hug, but returned it warmly. Apparently Gianna was looking forward to spending some time alone with their dad, without him. Well, he could understand that. But she seemed to think that him bowing out of their time together was a selfless move on his part, designed to allow her time to spend alone with him. Wrong. Gus's motivations were mostly that he didn't want to be around the two of them at the same time. Not right now. It was a bit too weird for him. She couldn't see the face he made as she hugged him, and it was gone when he pulled back.
"Don't eat too many cupcakes, Dad," Gus said, before retreating into his room and closing it behind him. He just stood there behind the door for a moment, thinking and listening to the sounds of Gianna and their father puttering around to get ready to take off. Sigh.
Tony, on the other hand, pulled on his heavy winter coat, complete with gloves and a scarf. He was even worse about dealing with the cold than his son was -- probably because of his age.
"You make cupcakes, too?" Tony asked, his interests clearly piqued. "I love cupcakes. Especially ones with lots of frosting. They don't usually let us have those at Greenview, surprise surprise."
