Tony had chosen to ignore Gus for the moment. He'd noticed that he'd gotten quiet. Not even the occasional snide comment had come from his son's lips for awhile. It made him a little uncomfortable, but he decided to not disrupt whatever conversation he was having with Gianna to try to figure it out. He could talk to Gus about it another time when she wasn't around.
"You'll have to bring some more of these treats," he said, finishing the last of his coffee before pushing to his feet to get another cup. The brew in the pot probably wouldn't be warm for too much longer.
Tony continued to rattle on to Gianna, even from the kitchen. "You know, Gianna, I've traced the Bentleys back at least three generations. There will be plenty of that sort of thing to look into when we go." He struggled a bit with the conversation, though to the casual observer, he never wavered. Part of the reason he kept going on and on about the same subject was that he wasn't really sure what to say to her. But if present conversation topics were working, he saw no reason to change, unless she wanted to.
