When his father had showed up at the painting business on Monday afternoon, Gus called up Greenview Retirement Community and told Lance, the director. It was pretty standard procedure, especially since his father the escape artist, just couldn't stay away from New York City. Gus would ride up with him on the bus, and drop him off. But he talked with Lance, and said he'd keep his dad on a few days, as a sort of test run to see how things would work if... God forbid, he actually decided that his dad getting an apartment again was a remotely sane idea.
So Gianna wanted to meet him. Gus wasn't surprised... he actually wanted her to meet him, too. They were all connected now, weren't they? It was something that would have to happen sooner or later.
His dad was at the kitchen table, flipping through the newspaper and talking about a John Stossel interview he'd watched on 20/20. Gus honestly wasn't totally listening. "I relly like his news programs, but it's hard for me to take any man with a moustache seriously."
"Dad, that's ridiculous. Ted at the shop has a moustache. You hired him." Gus kept an ear out, listening for Gianna to buzz. Good thing he had, because it might've been hard to hear over his dad's end of the conversation. He went to the buzzer, and pressed it. "C'mon up, Gee," he said, buzzing her in.
