"You'd be surprised how nice people would be if they heard that," he said, quickly adding, "I mean, it's not like something crazy. I doubt it would be talked about like gossip is." Jack wasn't sure if that would be a comforting thought or not, but he was hoping it would be the former.
He smiled, "well, that's good then." It was then he, coincedentally, glanced down at his textbook involuntarily to make sure the page was still marked. It really was kind of sad how focused he was on his school work, but to be honest? It was one of his passions. He loved learning, as nerdy as that would be to admit.
He laughed, slightly embarrassed at himself and how she caught him reading so feverishly. "Yeah, no, not really, I just kind of like this stuff," he said, shrugging. "It's no more scandalous than European history," he said, laughing a little more.
"In fact, American history is probably less enthralling..."
