"See, you're trying to turn this around on me, but you brought up the notion of anything dirty in the first place. So if my mind is thinking anything dirty, it's still your fault." Brian didn't want to be thinking anything dirty, especially about Clarice... honestly there wasn't much room for those kinds of thoughts. The overwhelming thoughts of how much she annoyed him pretty much took over, leaving no room for anything else.
Satisfied that his niece was well, and that she was content to sleep for awhile, Brian walked out of the room, leaving Clarice to sit in the chair in the baby's room. She was still complaining. "Are you babbling about those chocolate cookie things Marissa keeps under her bed?" he asked, before realizing that the fervor with which she'd been hunting for those damned things in the kitchen was about to be turned onto Jared and Marissa's bedroom in less than a second.
Not if he could get there first. He flashed Clarice one more smile from around the doorframe, then bolted down the hallway to his brother's room.
