Matt listened to her talk about Christmas and the gifts she'd received. For once, he was actually listening, rather than pondering the quickest, most direct route into her pants.
"Yeah," he grinned.
His Christmas wasn't anything when compared to hers but he gave her a basic run-down, focusing mostly on the things that his best friend and brother had gotten for him. They knew him better than most of the other people in his life and he always seemed to be most excited about their gifts.
A part of him wanted to ask how things had been going since he'd left... you know, with the attack and all but she was so happy the he decided it would probably be best not to bring it up.
He made other small talk as they made their way to her restaurant of choice but that's all it was, basically... filler, something to keep them from riding in silence.
Once he'd parked the truck, he slid out rather quickly and rounded the tail end so that he could open her door for her.
"So what are you thinking about eating tonight?" he questioned, waiting on one of her usual answers.
'A ginormous burrito.' 'A hamburger as big as you.'
Even he had to admit she was rather adorable at times.
