Emma completely astounded expression didn't change at the explanation of his sudden appearance. "You.. you didn't have to do that," she told him as she accepted the flowers he held out to her.
She felt a little dumbfounded when he leaned in and pressed a kiss to her cheek but she was certainly receptive of that display of affection.
"Nonsense," she told him. "You gave me plen..." Of course, he produced gifts rather quickly and, again, she was left with this distinct feeling of confusion.
Realizing they were standing just outside the door she gave a shake of her head. "Well, come in," she invited as she took a few steps into the house. "I don't... but... of course you should come in."
Once he was inside, she closed the door behind them. "Well, I wasn't exactly planning to go out for New Years," she explained. As she spoke, she nervously ran the palms of her hands over her hips. Of course, that action brought her current attire to her attention and she looked down her body.
"Oh... I have to go change," she announced suddenly. "No one is actually supposed to see these sweats." She began inching toward the stairs, then. "You can just... make yourself at home. It wont take me long."
Usually, she would have invited him upstairs with her but she didn't want her older brother to stop in and threaten to kill him.
