It had never been in Marlene's nature to be nervous about anything. She was the sort of person who was confident and always so damn sure of herself, never really questioning herself or her actions. She did and said what she felt, going based on instinct and emotions almost alone. Sure, she thought sometimes, but then she had a tendency to think and obsess over things way too much and that happened way more than she liked and GOD she was going to end up doing just that again. It was easier for her to act on emotions than it was a logical thought process.
Maybe that was what had gotten her into so much trouble in the first place? Not thinking, that was. Because somehow, some way, she'd landed herself in a world of chaos and insanity and she was just now beginning to find a way back out of it. Sort of. Oh, she was still confused as all hell about things, but... but some things were beginning to come together a little bit more -- and what better time of year for that to happen, right?
It had taken her ages to think of something to give Troy and, once she had, she wanted to get it to him before she had a chance to change her mind on the subject. Confident she may have been, but this sort of thing... well, after what he'd done, she had no idea what she wanted to do for him. So when she had finally come up with some sort of idea, she decided to just go with it. Bundling herself to protect her small frame from the cold, she let out a small sigh as she left a large basket with a CD tucked inside, as well as a note.
Troy,
How's a girl supposed to top the sort of gift you gave me? Well.. here's a start, I guess! Maybe now the ice cream will actually get eaten instead of thrown around the kitchen.
Then again, where's the fun in that?
In case I don't get to see you the day of... Merry Christmas, Troy. Have an amazing one, yeah? You deserve it.
Marlene
Turning on heel, she tucked a few locks of hair that had escaped her hat behind her ear and hurried off, glancing over her shoulder as a weak smile played on her face. "Merry Christmas, Troy," she repeated before starting back to her own home.
