"I'm having an amazing day," she grinned. "I don't think Mother has even gotten out of bed, yet. Daddy and I have already ate cookies for breakfast and watched A Christmas Story like... twenty times."
She was obviously excited, talking ninety to nothing as she exaggerated in answer to Marlene's question.
They didn't get enough time together through the year and that fact alone made her miss Chicago like you wouldn't believe. It was nice to actually be able to spend some of Christmas day with her best friend.
"What about you? Are you having a good day? Get anything amazing for Christmas?"
Her daddy had gotten her too many things to count. A new iPod, a new bag to carry her school books in, personalized towels, some little bathroom caddy thing, jewelry... honestly, he'd gone a little overboard but she wasn't about to complain. A part of her loved being so spoiled.
