The instant she opened the door and started to apologize, Ed was pulling her into a tight hug, running a hand through her hair and reassuring her it was alright. He might not have seen her crying, but he knew she had to be upset. Who wouldn't be in her place.
"Shhhh, love," he crooned softly into her hair. "Shhh, you're not the one who should be apologizing..."
The thought that she thought she'd done something wrong killed him a little bit. He pulled back slightly, holding her face in his hands and brushing his lips lightly over hers.
