Ashleigh relaxed a little when her father said he was leaving them alone. They hadn't been doing anything wrong but she couldn't help feeling like a naughty child that had just been caught with her hand in a cookie jar.
When her father turned back to remind Ed of where he was supposed to sleep, she glared at him.
Of course, that glare smoothed into nothingness when Ed glanced back at her. "Oh... yeah... I mean, I guess I could eat," she agreed, though she really didn't have much of an appetite.
Matthew smiled at the invitation. "You know... I think I could stand to get some food."
Usually he wouldn't have imposed on the couple but he suddenly felt the need to get to know the boy his daughter was apparently kissing on a regular basis.
"I'll meet you guys at the door," he questioned.
Ashleigh nodded and Matthew headed off in the direction of his own room.
Dinner did sound like an excellent plan and both of the Bartons were suddenly looking forward to it.
