Ashleigh jumped slightly when her father cleared his throat. Ed wasn't embarrassed but Ashleigh was and she showed it when she flushed from head to toe.
The kiss had been very innocent but her daddy had never caught her kissing a boy before and it was more than a little awkward.
It was pointless to try to come up with some sort of lie, so she simply pulled away from Ed slightly as she gave the man a quiet, "Yes, Daddy?"
Matthew blinked twice, trying not to act obviously uncomfortable. "I was just... coming to check on you," he told her softly. "I wanted to make sure that you were alright."
He glanced at Ed before adding a, "Are you alright? You look alright." She looked oddly okay and he briefly wondered how the boy had managed it.
"I'm okay, Daddy," she told him with an adoring smile. "It's alright... I'm okay."
Matthew looked over the pair of them before nodding. "Okay... I guess I'll leave you two alone, then." He gave Ashleigh a smile and turned to leave but stopped in his tracks. "Ed," he smiled as he turned to look at the boy. "Don't forget... take a right out of Ashleigh's door and you're the second room to your left."
Their kiss had been innocent but he wasn't about to give the boy permission to sleep in his daughter's bed.
