Lyla nodded, biting her lip before she could get another apology out. It seemed like the more she tried to stop, the more she wanted to apologize.
"It's alright," she assured him when he started to apologize. "Really, it is. I was.. I mean you could have slapped me or something instead.." That was a joke. Probably not a very funny one, but wasn't that what they did to shut hysterically babbling women up in the movies?
She trailed off into an awkward silence, This was.. stupid.
"Are you hungry?" she asked suddenly. "I'm.. I mean, it's been hours since I ate and I thought maybe if you were we could.. there's an all night diner just down the street, isn't there?"
It was another ramble, sure, but at least this one had something of a purpose.
