"No, you don't," he assured her softly. "You... I would've... I don't need a thanks," he said, shaking his head.
He didn't know what he was supposed to say or what he was supposed to do. He knew one thing, though, she didn't need to thank him for coming to her rescue. He would've helped any woman in her position.
After sitting there a moment, he nervously cleared his throat. "We should call the police... campus security... something..."
That was the logical leap, right? She was attacked, they should notify the officials.
