After the way he'd pulled that guy off of her, who better to make her feel safe? Lyla was perfectly content to let him take care of her for now. Anyone else she could call would only be freaking out as much as she was, probably more, anyway, and.. he seemed to be surprisingly good at it, this whole taking care of her thing.
She bit her lip as she sat on the edge of the bed, fighting the urge to beg him not to go anywhere when he got up to get the drink. She felt silly even thinking it and she was glad she hadn't voiced it, especially when he returned so quickly to her side with the glass of tea.
Lyla hadn't ever had sweet tea before and she looked at him in surprise for a moment when she tasted it. "Hey, this is really good.. thank you..." she said, her tone quiet as she took another sip, letting the savoring of a new flavor distract her for a moment.
"I..." she didn't know quite how to answer his questions or which one to start with and her voice faltered a bit. "I think I left one of my books here earlier," she admitted, blushing and feeling a little bit stupid. "I guess it was pretty dumb of me to walk over in the dark, but.." she trailed off again. "I don't know who it was.. some.. guy, I guess?" The more she talked, the more foolish she felt. It had to be her fault, right? Walking across campus at night, being so friendly to someone she didn't even know. That had to be why this had happened to her.
"God, I'm an idiot," she muttered, more to herself than anyone.
