Each time she flashed that smile of hers, David remembered more and more why he'd always liked her so much. Emma was beautiful, but when she smiled - David thought she was pretty much the prettiest girl in the room and he couldn't help feeling proud to have him on his arm. This was probably dangerous, really, because in a few weeks when school started up again, he was going to have to somehow bury the feelings that were surfacing if he expected to focus on anything.
He happily pulled her close when they reached the dance floor and he smiled down at her when she asked him about school. "Columbia's great," he answered. "It's demanding and tough and sometimes I kind of want to kill myself, but... it's great to be back in my city and I really do love the school."
