Who: Jeremy Pitt and Dari Davison (Snow White's prince and Flora)
What: phone call
When: 11-26-07, evening
Rating: PG-13
Status: Complete Log
Jeremy had been insanely busy since he'd arrived in Seattle. Sure, he called his girlfriend every night but, some nights, he was so exhausted that he hardly talked to her before practically falling asleep on the phone.
Tonight, though, he was feeling fine when he finally picked up the phone and made it dial her.
He was stretched out across his bed, staring up at the ceiling as he waited for her to answer. "Hey," he greeted with a grin when her voice finally echoed on the other line. "How's my girl?"
Dari was back in New Orleans now, which meant she was once again busy with school things. It was good to have that distraction, though, because it meant she had other things to focus on than how much she really missed her boyfriend.
She knew he'd be calling, so even though her lap was currently filled with a number of schoolbooks, she had her phone handy, too. She'd been in the middle of another muttered rant to herself about how she must have been insane when she decided to sign up for Physics when the phone ran and her face lit up with a smile as she moved to answer it.
"Hey," she greeted him happily. It was so good, as always to hear his voice. "Finals," she added in a quiet grumble as she relaxed into a more comfortable position, "are the bane of my existence." She was smiling, though, despite her complaints. "How are you?"
Jeremy always thought that Dari worked too hard at exam time but it was pointless to try to argue with her about it. Besides, it was much easier to wait patiently and thoroughly distract her when he was certain she needed a break.
"Well, good," he grinned into the phone. "You put your pencils and your pens down, push your books away and take a real break while we talk." Yes, he was being a little bossy but he was in a completely different city and couldn't get in trouble for it.
"I'm good," he answered. "I've not slept in since I got here but spending time with everyone is completely worth it. I didn't realize how much I missed Dad, Izzy and, well, everyone." Pause. "So, other than finals, are you doing okay?"
Dari didn't exactly mind when he made her take a break and she hadn't intended on thinking about school at all when they talked. Of course, she really wished he was home to properly distract her from studying right now.
"Yes, sir," she mocked him lightly, even though he book was already closed and she was leaning back on her pillows, settling in for some quality conversation with her boyfriend.
She listened to him talk, nodding, even if he couldn't see her. "I'm alright," she told him honestly. "Studying far too much and.. I miss you, but at least the semester is nearly over."
Jeremy shifted as she spoke, tucking one of his arms under the back of his head. "So, what are your big plans for the break between semesters, anyway? Will you be taking off to Boston? Or Chicago?" As much as he hated the idea of being stuck in New Orleans without her, he knew that she might want to spend time with the friends she rarely got to see while school was in session. Besides, he really had no room to talk after this two week vacation to Seattle.
"I actually thought I'd spend some time with my boyfriend," she replied with a smile. As much as she enjoyed spending time with her other friends, Jeremy was gone for two weeks and she already missed him like crazy. Honestly, she really hadn't thought very far past how much she just wanted to be with him again.
Besides, it had been months since she'd been able to just enjoy being with him without having to think about homework or rushing off to class. She was going to enjoy that while she could.
"Good plan!" he agreed instantly, the smile apparent in his voice. "I whole heartedly approve of that, Miss Davison." Pause. "So what do you plan to do with said boyfriend? Anything fun?" The last of his comments had a slightly mischievous tone but, sometimes, he couldn't help himself. Dari brought out the worst, or the best depending on perspective, in him.
Dari couldn't help a small laugh at his response. It was typical of Jeremy and even if she hadn't exactly expected him to have any complaints, it made her smile to hear how much he wanted to spend some time with her.
"Mmm, I have a few ideas," she murmured suggestively, shifting slightly, rolling onto her side as she held the phone to her ear. "I think you'd find them fun."
She'd have to say best rather than worst, because she really liked it when he was like this. Sure, it wasn't as nice as it would be if he was here with her right now, but.. it felt nice to tease like this.
"Is that a fact?" he teased right back. "Maybe you should, give me a visual or something..." He let the phone prop between the pillow and his ear as he draped his other hand over his stomach. "Tell me what it is I have to look forward to."
No, Jeremy hadn't been intending for this particular phone conversation to take a naughty turn but he simply couldn't help flirting with her. It wasn't like he got to flirt this way with other girls now that he was a taken man.
"Well.. I did do some shopping over the weekend," she hinted teasingly, shifting a little bit more. She didn't mind at all that their conversation has taken a slightly naughty turn. It was them and it would have just been weird if some sort of innuendo didn't make it's way into their talk.
"I think you'll like the things I picked out. I was planning to.. give you a show.. when you get back here..."
It was very typical for one of their phone conversations to take a naughty turn. The chances of something like that occurring doubled when you considered the amount of space between them. "Mmmmm a show, eh?" he practically purred through the phone. "Just what sort of show would that be and... I'm suddenly very excited about seeing what you bought." Pause. "Welllll... tell me more!" No way he was letting her off of the phone without a few more details.
Dari outright grinned against the phone as she shifted again, this time rolling onto her back, letting her other hand rest lightly on her abdomen.
"Oh, I bought several things I think you might enjoy," she hinted, not wanting to give too much away. "Lacy and barely there... I'd hate to completely ruin the surprise, but maybe I'll give you a preview later..."
Yes, that was why they'd invited webcams, right? So she could send him dirty emails. At least, she liked to think that was the reason.
Jeremy couldn't stop himself from grinning when she said that she'd bought lacy, barely there things and that he might earn himself a preview later. "A preview could definitely come in handy," he teased. "It's not easy being stuck in a city all the way across the country from you, you know." No, his imagination was not lacking but... what guy wouldn't encourage such a 'preview'?
"Hmmm, you should check your email later, then," she told him, fully intending to put her webcam to use and send him that preview she'd hinted at.
"I know," she replied softly, biting lightly at her lip. "It's not easy being here without you, either.. I really miss you.." Pause. "A lot." She couldn't help letting go of a small sigh, then. She couldn't really put into words just how much she missed him.
"But.. you're seeing your family and having a good time and that's really great," she offered, trying her best to sound cheery. She didn't want to dwell on how much it sucked to not have him right there. Not when she knew he needed this time at home, with his family.
"Will do," he smiled, wondering if she'd really be sending him a few pictures.
She didn't have to tell him that it really sucked for her not to have him there. He would've been horribly miserable if she'd been the one to take off for two weeks. Plus, he knew her far better than she knew herself, sometimes. "I am having a good time and... it wont be too long before I'm home again." Pause. "I love you, Dari. I miss you, too." Sometimes a few encouraging words went a long way.
Oh, she'd definitely be sending him a few pictures. She was surprised that she hadn't thought of it before, because she knew he'd really appreciate it.
A few words did go a long way. Her eyes might have been a little moist, but she smiled when he told her he loved and missed her. Sure, she knew all of that, but it was still really nice to hear it.
"I love you, too," she returned softly, smiling against the phone, "and I'm really glad you're having a good time." She really was. No matter how she missed him, she really wanted him to be happy.
"I'm having a wonderful time," he admitted. "It's been far too long since I've been able to just goof off with Izzy and see all of my friends. When I get to New Orleans, I seem to forget how much I miss these people." He gave a quiet sigh. "I think that I'll have to come visit more because, when I'm up here, I don't really want to leave."
He was rambling. He knew that he was rambling. He'd never really been much of a talker but he didn't want to just flirt with Dari then hang up.
Dari bit her lip and tried to pretend it didn't bother her, hearing how he didn't want to leave. She knew it wasn't about her, but a part of her couldn't help worrying he'd decide to just... move home. He'd moved away from her once before, after all, even if that hadn't exactly been all his choice.
"You should do what makes you happy," she offered after a slight pause, trying to ignore the doubtful voice that was telling her he'd rather be there in Seattle, where she'd barely see him.
Jeremy had clearly worded that slightly wrong. When he was in Seattle, Dari was the only thing that made him want to come home. If his option was to live near his family and his friends and to be near her, he'd always always choose her.
"Which is exactly why I'll be home in another week. Seattle is great and the people here are amazing but you make me happy." It was sappy but very true.
Dari wanted to cry at his words. It wasn't in a bad way, of course, because it made her so happy to hear them. And she didn't care how sappy it was, because she loved him so much for that, for saying that and for meaning it.
"I love you," she told him a bit, quite a bit of the emotion she was feeling creeping into her tone. "I.. you make me happy, too. So much."
She felt a little silly, getting so emotional over a few simple words, but she couldn't help it. "I'd.. if you wanted to.. you know I'd follow you anywhere, right?"
"I know," he admitted, "and you may very well have to prove that one day but... it definitely wont be before you've graduated from college." Pause. "We'll talk all about it when our future is actually staring us in the face."
He gave another sigh as he pulled up the hem of his shirt so that he could scratch his stomach.
"Soooo..." he quickly went from sappy to flirting again, "what are you wearing?"
"Okay," she agreed quietly, not wanting to argue, not even, really, wanting to talk about that particular subject much more. Truthfully, she loved New Orleans and it would be hard for her to leave Trissy, even if she would. She'd do anything he asked of her, even if it meant leaving someone else she loved.
She was happy when the topic turned again and she laughed at his question.
"My red sweats and my Panic! t-shirt," she told him. It wasn't a terribly sexy outfit, unfortunately, but she hadn't felt the need to be overly cute when he wasn't around to see.
Once he got back home, the desire to leave New Orleans would decrease. He loved his home, after all. When he was in Seattle, though, he didn't like having to leave his family.
"Ohhhh, sexy," he teased. "Who are you trying to turn on."
What? It didn't matter what she was wearing, she always turned him on.
"Only you, baby," she answered truthfully, smiling at his teasing. It felt good, just bantering with him, just talking about something so silly. She supposed that's how it had always been, that's how it was when you loved someone so much. Even the little things felt amazing with him.
"You do that regardless of what you're wearing," he laughed. "You just have to... exist and I'm turned on." He really did JUST enjoy flirting and talking to her. "So, tell me, my love, have you been naughty since I left New Orleans?"
"Not nearly naughty enough," she pouted, "unless you count sleeping with Ashleigh, of course." No, there hadn't been any of that. (A shame, too. Ashleigh was one of those girls Dari wouldn't mind doing a little.. experimenting with, as Jeremy well knew) She knew he'd appreciate the mental image, though. "I'm saving all my bad behavior for when you get home.."
Jeremy couldn't help laughing when Dari mentioned Ashleigh. "Has she put out for you, yet, pet?" he questioned softly. "Wasn't there a bet... hadn't you won her virginity or something like that?" He didn't think that the blonde girl had actually let Dari deflower her but he sure didn't mind entertaining the idea. "Well, I can't wait," he told her softly as he stretched then crossed his ankles.
"Sadly, no, she hasn't put out. Her boyfriend completely freaked out because she went skinny dipping with a friend and I don't think she'd let me now, even if she'd intended to before. Completely unfair!" Her tone was extra pouty, even if she was mostly kidding. Oh, she'd absolutely go there with Ashleigh, so long as she had Jeremy's blessing to do so, but.. she knew it wasn't likely to ever happen and she was fine with that, too. "I can't wait, either" she told him, her tone completely serious now as she shifted again. "My hands aren't nearly as effective as yours.."
Jeremy smirked as she carried on about Ashleigh and her boyfriend. "Well, I'm sorry, love. Just keep your fingers crossed. If you turn her on half as much as you turn me on, she'll be begging for you in no time."
Of course, the more she talked, the larger his smile got. "Of course they aren't," he teased. "Your body is trained to only react to me." Pause. "I promise to take care of things as soon as I get home, though."
"Mmmm, I can only hope," she teased, "though I think she's worried her boyfriend would be upset. I've tried to tell her that he'd probably get off on it, but..."
She grinned again at his next words. "I will definitely be looking forward to that," she told him, her mind definitely wandering as she pictured how amazing it was going to be. "I really don't plan to let you out of bed for at least a few days when you get home.."
"Some boys don't like to share," he told her softly. "Even if it's with a girl as hot as you."
He gave a small groan as he shifted his position, changing which arm was under his head and on his stomach. "I will too, baby," he told her softly. "And that sounds like the best way to celebrate my homecoming." Pause. "Poor Jack."
Dari didn't really mind. Honestly, Jeremy was all she really wanted, anyway. She loved Ash, thought she was completely beautiful, but no one made her heart race the way he did. No one filled her stomach with butterflies the way he did. "Oh, you know Jack likes the free show," she joked, smiling into the phone, truly happy as she thought of how wonderful him coming home to her was going to be. She really, really couldn't wait. Finals would be basically over for her by then and she was looking forward to really showing him how much she missed him when he wasn't around.
Jeremy couldn't help laughing when she spoke of Jack in such a way. "It's like free action porn living right down the hall from him." He was sure they would likely get off the phone soon but he couldn't help clinging at little to the conversation. After all, they had another whole week of being apart. "I love you," he told her softly.
She'd been kidding, mostly, but she laughed, too, when he said that. "I'd hate to disappoint him, then, especially since he's not getting his free show up there. It's a rough job, but.. we're just going to have to take one for the team, I guess..."
She loved being like this with him, joking about his best friend, teasing and making plans for his return. She loved.. pretty much everything with him.
She, too, knew their conversation would likely end soon. He had his family and friends at home and she had a mountain of work to do. She didn't want it to end, though, and she couldn't help trying to hold onto it a bit more.
"I love you," she echoed, just as softly shifting once more and smiling as her gaze settled on the photo of them together that she kept on her desk. It had been taken a few years ago and she wondered, looking at it now, how she'd missed the way they looked at each other, even back then. "I always have, you know," she added, her tone just a bit nostalgic.
Jeremy grinned as the spoke of Jack and what they were going to do when he was home again. Conversations like this made the space between them feel just a little smaller. It was so good to talk to her like this every evening.
His expression turned soft when she spoke of loving him. "I know," he told her softly. "Even when I didn't know, I knew." Pause. "I love you, too, baby. I miss you."
"I miss you, too," she told him with a smile, even though they'd both said it so many times already. They were being unbelievably sappy and she couldn't help loving it. It was their first separation since they'd started saying those words to one another and.. it felt just as nice to hear and say them over the phone from a distance and it did when she was lying right next to him. She knew she should let him go, get back to her schoolwork, but she didn't want to. All she wanted to do was lie here and talk to him like this for the rest of the night, even if it wasn't practical to do so. "You're amazing, you know," she told him. "Even from the other side of the country, you make me happier than I ever thought possible.."
Jeremy had promised to go somewhere with his father that night and he knew that he really needed to get off the phone so that he could shower but he allowed himself to linger.
"I'm glad you think so," he returned before giving a sigh of dread. "I'm... I'm going to have to go... some dinner thing with Dad, but... I don't want to stop talking to you yet." He pouted a little as he spoke. Sure, they'd been apart before but not like this. This was the first time they'd been dating and it was more difficult that he could've imagined.
Dari sighed and gave a little pout of her own when he said he had to go soon. "I know... I've got about a million tons of studying to do, myself," she admitted reluctantly, but I don't want to hang up yet, either." There was another sigh to emphasize it, because she didn't want to stop talking, even though she knew she needed to. "Next time, I am going with you," she joked, knowing full well they'd already planned for her to go along on his next visit up there at Christmas. "Clearly, the only up side to this whole missing you thing is all the amazing 'welcome home' sex we're going to have when you get back.
"Yes clearly, that is the only up side to being out of town for so long," he smiled. After sitting there another moment or two he sighed again. "Okay. Well... I love you baby and I'll call tonight when I get home and can talk a little longer."
Dari laughed at his response to that, letting out a soft sigh of her own. "Okay," she agreed. She didn't want to let him go, but she didn't want to keep him from his father, either. "Give your dad my love?" she added, smiling against the phone and whispering another "I love you," before finally making herself hang up.
