This morning when Rylee woke up the first thing she'd thought about was Micah, no real reason for the man to be in her head but there he was taunting her. All the week that she'd been at her brothers he hadn't been far from the front of her mind and that was exactly why she'd came, to get over him before he hurt her anymore than she'd already been. Deciding early on to just take tonight to find something to keep her mind where it should be the girl had gone out and bought a Halloween costume, using the few connections she had around these parts to find where the best party of the evening was going to be. With Shane working late he'd left her the car, getting a ride from a coworker so that she could come and go as she pleased without feeling too trapped, so taking the keys off the coffee table after the outfit was on she went to the car and started in the direction of the gathering. Turning the radio on and buckling her seatbelt she got on the freeway, taking the hat off her head and throwing it into the passenger seat, running her hand through her hair with a groan as another love song came on. That was all they played around here, love song after fucking love song. Or that was all she managed to notice since her brother had felt the need to point out she'd fallen for the man she was running from. Rylee'd fallen so far for the man that even going thousands of miles away to rid her thoughts of him had only made it worse for all of those around her. Growing tired of the mushy song she leaned forward and changed the channel only to find another and another before finally just switching the thing off and settling for the dull roar of the engine to soothe her nerves on the semi long drive, however the silence for her didn't have a calming effect. All the woman could think about was how stupid she was being, running from something that was supposedly so wonderful in everyone elses standards. So what if the only lasting love she'd seen in her entire lifetime was her parents! It was still suppose to be something amazing. How did the saying go? Better to have loved and lost then to never have loved at all It was all bullshit. ...Then again all the small things about the relationship (if you could even call it that) made her smile. The holding of the hands as well as the casual hugs, lunch dates popping up out of nowhere simply because and then the real dates that managed to take her breath away in a single moment. Every look he gave her made her melt, and his smile sent a shiver down her spine if he did it in just the right way. NO! No. Rylee wasn't going to think like that. Shaking her head she ran her hand over her face, turned on her blinker and got off at the next off ramp, planning on pulling over to take a breathe or two...but she never made it that far. Instead the drivers side of the car was plowed into buy a car running a stop sign, glass shattering all over her and the rest of her brothers car as her seat belt broke and her body was half thrown into the passenger seat while the airbag went off. Still concious Rylee could here the screeching of many tires and then felt the breaking of even more glass landing on her while her car started to slide in another direction due due a second hit. Barely able to look around she groaned loudly, finding it hard to take in breaths while strewn across the car, leg pinned under the dash and her arm pulsing in pain. Before anything else could be surveyed by the girl the car was hit again and she was no longer awake. |
