Still not looking up, DP answered, speaking in a soft, almost clinically impersonal tone, "Its common for symptoms of hunger to stop if the subject hasn't had anything to eat in the last 36 to 48 hours -- and if you don't eat within 48 to 72 hours your mental abilities begin to become impared." He glanced up, then shrugged. "Also, your digestive system begins to shut down and food becomes something that needs to be reintroduced slowly. I can make you some broth if you like, from some of this -- but considering that none of us know when our next meal is going to be coming, avoiding a meal when its offered isn't the best of ideas."
He paused, then turned and considered Alex more directly. With a shrug, he added, "First rule of Search and Rescue, mate -- can't help others if you are in need of help yourself." His head tipped, curiously, casually. "...are you in need of help?"
