He ran a hand back through his hair, not trying to hide his irritation. "What kind've a question's that?" he snapped. "Of course I tried goin... what do you mean?" He suddenly turned and stared at Michael. "You mean, up up? Like... I dunno. See how high I can get? Because no. I've been trying to get to places out ahead, not up. Besides, if I can't get through to places... you don't think they've built it, whatever it is, like an open can, do you?"
It was a long shot. After all, they knew enough about him to kit this place out in a way that he'd instantly recognize. Surely they knew he could fly. Didn't they?
