He got to his feet as David ranted, and limped his way over to the bear he would have sworn belonged to Laddie, but when he picked it up he saw that David was right. Putting it back down on the chair where it had been sitting, he kept a hand against the back of the chair while he waited for the pounding in his skull to die down. It was a mixture of his usual thirst and the headache, and it was not fun now that he was up on his feet.
"Of course you're not weak," he replied, although he sounded a touch distracted, "and... I don't know. I mean, I came here looking for somewhere to stay and I found it. Didn't know it was a, a cage. You got here and pretty much straight away, you're looking to leave again. I dunno, this made sense in my head."
He lifted his free hand up to his head and felt around where the pain seemed to be worst, hissing when he touched a fairly tender spot on the back of his skull. "Did you try going up?"
