Cedric cracked the eggs and listened to them sizzle against the butter. Eggs were kind of difficult to get right. They didn't turn a special color or emit a delicious smell like the meat and biscuits he'd already made. If he didn't take the eggs off they'd be tough and burnt, or disgustingly runny.
He watched them carefully. He was not going to burn these eggs, he had to do something right for Oliver. He and his friends had been very nice to him, and he wanted to be able to do something back, and a delicious breakfast was his first step.
