Draping both arms around his the back of his neck, Faith nuzzled into Alec's collar bone. Her right hand slipped down to cover Alec's heart, it gave her a sense of piece, that and feeling him breathe. Faith realized how lucky she was.
Faith learned a long time ago, that a slayer had to make the most of her time, she'd far exceeded anyone but Buffy.
“I'm going to go make the bed,” she said as she unwrapped herself from him. It didn't take long, and she was back. Holding out her hand to him, when he was ready she led him back to the bedroom, pushing him down to flop on top on him. Being with him was like breathing, it was effortless.
Faith knew they both needed sleep, looking at him was so tempting, she'd couldn't resist expecting all the scars on his body. Fingertips slowly traced each one as if her touch would make them disappear, she was memorizing each one. Faith kept things close to her chest, she figured Alec did as well; in time, Faith felt he might be the one she could share things with. She was fully aware that all of the feelings were still in the afterglow of their lovemaking. Funny she never used that word, she'd never really made love; looking into his eyes, she hoped that would change.
The cool sheets were inviting, his body even more so, but there was something on her mind and she had to say it. Hell she didn't know what they had, if indeed they had anything.
Using her hands she encouraged him to turn so she could finish her inspection. Lying beside him,, it was easy for her to kiss the scars on his back after her fingertips traced each one.
She wasn't sure how to begin. “I'm not sure what this is or was or it it will become anything, or if you want it to: regardless there are things you need to know.
“These abilities I have, they are magical in nature. Years ago the sages of the time came together to create the ultimate fighting machines. Maybe it's the PMS,” she joked.
“It's a magical lineage, a girl doesn't know she's a slayer until she's called. It's my job to kill all the 'things' under the bed, the things most people talk about around a campfire, or watch kill stupid blonds in a horror movie. But it just doesn't go one way, if they had wanted posters in the monster world, my picture would be on their post office walls.” For a minute, Faith was distracted, what if the beasties did get together and form a union; that would be disastrous.
“A new slayer is called when the current one dies.” Faith thought that was the best way to describe things, she didn't want to drag things out, there was a possibility they'd be attacked while they slept, anything was possible.
“Alec, I've lived longer than any other slayer except one. The odds aren't in my favor. I couldn't take it if something happened to you because,” she paused, “because now you carry my smell.” By now she'd curled up against his back, her head on his shoulder, in order to be closer to his ear.
“You can take care of yourself, I'm not worried about that. The best way to get to a slayer is to kill the people she cares about, you could be in great danger. Yeah, I owe you jeans,” she chuckled, “I hope I'll owe you more.” As difficult as it was for her, one thing had changed. Over the years, Faith had begun to care. Faith felt the darkness of this town, and a responsibility to make sure Alec was informed. She knew full well, that he more than anyone would understand what she was saying and the danger surrounding the lusty slayer.
“You make me feel, something I haven't done in a long time. It's like a drug, I want more of it.” That was as close as she could come to admitting any feelings for him.
He didn't have to explain or share, unless he wanted to, in fact she half expected him to run, the two men she'd been honest with had. Faith couldn't blame them.
Faith yawned, and when she did, she stretched like a cat, feeling relief as her muscles relaxed, she hadn't realized how tense she'd become.
Now she had a full view of his tattoo, kissing him there, she turned over to sleep. Lids closing, she prayed he stay. Regardless of his decision, Faith knew she'd never forget him. He was more than sex to Faith, that one fact scared her more than facing any demon.
