The rain was poring down from above. The boss was back now, and that meant there had been a jump in - if nothing else - awareness that firings could happen. While it was good - and lit the fires under the asses of the employees - on days like this when she wondered if the rain could cause the roof to crash down on them - it was a bit disconcerting.
There were three cars in the shop, but over the course of the day she'd managed to do her share on the one assigned to her. It was doubtful that the owner would be coming to pick the old lady up today - it was how she kept referring to the call. An older model Toyota Camery which had failed its last inspection and was here for fixing up. It was up to standards now, but the rain... the storms were keeping most people inside. Yes a few brave souls had put on ponchos or taken umbrellas and braved the elements to go out and run errands.
Emorie sat on the trunk of a car, watching the town's residents running or walking fast to get from one place to the other. She had her journal on her lap, making notes. It was getting really frustrating. The hunters that were already in town were getting in the way. She'd been working on this too long and too hard. It wasn't that this was a race. It was the fact that when you were in town and it was clear that someone else was too you sent out feelers. Tried to find out what was going on! She had no doubt that by now they knew there was another hunter in the small town - if only because some of her targets were taken care of. They must have targeted some of her sites.
The pen moved over the open page, making notes about the hunts how they'd went and the fact that things just kept happening. The apocolypse was now. They knew it was coming. If nothing else at some point this would be the end of it all. And either they would survive. She played with a wrench in the other hand, her face slightly grease stained from her earlier work on the car.
Maybe she'd get lucky and someone would come in before she headed back to Faith's... well her and Faith's. She had a few more hours. She had to call Rufus. Try to get a handle on just who was in town. If anyone could find out, it would be him... he had an ear do the hunter's grapevine at all times...
