ABOUT THE AMULET NET

The amulets were invented by the infamous alchemist Wifford Wrenchtink who disappeared in the ruins in search of some ill fated gemstone. Now sold by various merchants across the city to any adventurer with money to spend, many at discount prices. But remember, you get what you pay for.

The Amulet-Net itself was created in collaboration with some of the early adventurers who often found themselves separated from each other during their hazardous exploits into the ruins. Fame and fortune can be a fickle thing, after all. Although Wrenchtink never fully explained the workings of the Amulet-Net before his ill-timed disappearance, it has been theorized by recent adventurers that it works via an underground viaduct of naturally occurring psionic magic that flows beneath the city. As a result, the further an adventurer travels from the center of the city, the less accurate and reliable the network becomes.

The capabilities of the Amulet-Net are almost as diverse as the amulets themselves. Adventurers are able to communicate with each other in practically every manner imaginable: hand written notes instantaneously transmitted without the need of a courier (for the old fashioned traveler,) auditory or visual messages (to give it a more personal touch,) group channels (great for those adventurers who are more apt to stray from the herd,) private channels (perfect for those cold winter nights), and open channels (essential for the lost or the lonely.) It has even been rumored that the amulets have the ability to communicate across parallel realms, but no one who has tried to verify that has come out of the ruins alive. At least, not in this reality of the city.
