The Doctor had been sitting rather quietly in the mess hall, leaning back as fingers steepled in front of him, lightly tapping against his lips every now and then; mind was wrought with thoughts on what was going on, trying to work out the different sorts of creatures it could be, the alien life form it might be, where it might be from, when he finally just decided it had to be something he'd never come in contact with before. Brows were furrowed and he seemed lost in thought when suddenly he was on his feet, a quick spin in place as if about to say something to someone but remembering no one was there at the moment he clapped his hands and moved towards the doors immediately.
Long purple frock blew out behind him with the swiftness of his steps, the black vest of his worn snugly with gold pocket watch worn in 'w' shape in front of him; the very same watch he'd received on Christmas. Bowtie adorning his neck, the Doctor moved to tighten it before throwing open the doors to the cafeteria and began down the corridors at a brisk, determined pace. As he moved, he reached into his inner pocket and pulled out that sonic screwdriver, tossing it up and down in hand with a few quick flicks before then twisting down yet another corridor and then moving down the steps.
Lights flickered, fear hung at the edges of his psyche with not knowing, knowing that life was only mere moments away from being ended at anytime; realizing that, of course, danger lurked and that the unknown was all that faced him. This, of course, brought out a dark grin on him and he moved until the lights flickered the most and immediately stopped.
Spinning in place without the brash, childlike expressions he usually had, instead it was grit and determination as he brought his screwdriver up and scanned around him, looking at the readouts before then looking around him once more, "I know you're here. Whatever you are. Whatever it is that you are. I don't believe you're what everyone else says you are, but I do believe you're real. I'm the Doctor... I can help you. I can guide you, free you, help you in anyway that you need..."
He flicked the screwdriver this time and it extended, prongs coming out with the green light lit, and he turned up a brow, "But I will not let you scare the people of this ship any further. I will stop you, whatever you are. And I will do whatever is necessary..."
Eyes checking, he waited in the cold air, his breath leaving clouds of steam in front of him and he knew something was there, but nothing showed. Hand gripped a bit tighter on the handle, before he nodded and then dropped to a knee to open up the panel along the corridor, screwdriver working at the wall before it popped off. He ducked his head inside and began to scan, grabbing the wires to look at each of them before zapping them with the screwdriver. He saw light drift in and knew they were coming back on, but he could also tell that something was off. Pulling his head back out, he stared at the wires with a frown.
