Lessons in corsets and proper dining
Who: Sean and Josslyn
What: Surprise visits and cuteness
When: Sunset Wednesday Night
Where: The Palace
Warnings: None really
Sean had made sure to be up and showered and dressed before it even got twilight outside. He wanted to surprise Josslyn and to do that he'd have to get to the palace before the sun went down. He managed to be even earlier than that and after speaking with her father (well, father figure he supposed), he was allowed into Josslyn's room to wait for her to wake up. He'd honestly been pretty surprised that Jacob hadn't been upset about him showing up. Still it seemed the man was alright with him being at the palace and Sean wasn't about to question that. It was a little weird to be amidst so many vampires, but a lot of the servants were human and that put the boy at ease. He was led to her room and let inside and he smiled a little as he entered the bedroom and saw her pretty sleeping form. She looked like an angel, blonde curls haloing around her face. He tucked the little stuffed bunny rabbit that he'd gotten her beneath his arm and slowly entered further into her room, clearing his throat a little in hopes that she'd wake up.
Josslyn was dead to the world, in more ways than one. Being a new vampire, her body was still very much tied to the night. Of course, there was one thing stronger than that within her and that was her bond to Sean. She could feel him in the room and even though the sun had yet to dip completely below the horizon, her blue eyes slowly opened. She let out a yawn and sat up, brushing her mass of curls out of her face. Once her eyes fell on him she beamed and in seconds she was out of bed and directly in front of him. "You're here!" she said, her fangs showing as she had just woken. She would be unable to put them away until she fed, but all she was caring about was Sean at the moment.
While he maybe should have been a little hesitant to get close to her considering she was obviously hungry, Sean had no fear as he stepped closer to Josslyn. He smiled at her and nodded, lifting his free hand to gently brush a loose curl from her face and behind her ear. "I wanted to surprise you. Sorry that I woke you, but I just wanted to be the one to be showing up at your place instead of the other way around all the time." he explained. "And I wanted to give you this." he added as he lifted the rabbit enough that she could see it. "Wasn't sure what your favorite animal was so hopefully you're partial to bunnies."
Josslyn let out a gasp as he presented her with the stuffed bunny and took it, hugging it close to her. "Oh Sean, I love it, thank you!" she said and leaned up to give him a kiss on the cheek. Her lips were cold as ice against his warm skin. She couldn't help but brush her nose over his cheek as she pulled away, inhaling deeply. Out in the salon Josslyn cold hear the maids readying her clothing for the evening. Since they were apparently staying in the palace that night, Sean would see just how drastic of a change that had happened to Josslyn's life. "Well, I'll need to feed and dress then maybe dinner in one of the dining halls?" she asked with a smile. The queen always made sure there was food for what was considered the 'nobility' of the palace, and Josslyn fell into that category. Usually she would eat in her own suite, but she kind of wanted to show Sean off.
He smiled, glad she liked the little bunny rabbit. That made his entire day worth while, seeing that glowing grin on her lips. He nodded in agreement to her thoughts for the night. "Alright." he told her. "Should I go somewhere and sit while you get dressed and... feed?" That was still weird to hear, but he was gradually getting used to it.
She smiled and slipped her hand into his. "Come with me." Josslyn led him into the main part of the salon. With a few whispered words to a maid there was a dressing screen set up and some tea and cakes brought for Sean. "You can sit here and I'll be just behind the screen." she said, giving him another kiss in the cheek before disappearing behind the screen. She fed quickly on a pretty young girl then began the painstaking task of getting dressed. "I'm sorry this takes so long." she called from behind the screen, her silhouette clear to him as the maid tied her corset.
He let her lead him into the salon and sat where she told him too. It was different, to say the least, to have people waiting on him hand and foot the way they were. Maids and other servants were in and out helping her get dressed. He might not have been able to see her behind the screen, but her silhouette was enough to have his heartbeat speeding up. "It's fine." he assured her. "I've got all night."
When she was finally finished, her hair and everything done, she stepped from behind the screen, her cheeks bright red as she was in a gown from her father's time. She didn't think it was a coincidence that it was a rather conservative one. "Please, don't laugh." she said, looking down and feeling very self conscious. While she was used to such things in the palace, she figured Sean would find it all very odd.
He wasn't planning on laughing, but he certainly felt a little out of place himself. He hadn't been oblivious to the fact that the servants wore dresses and garments from another time, but now with Josslyn dressed in a gown from just as far back in time, he felt like he wasn't dressed up enough in his jeans and t-shirt. "I'm not going to laugh." he told her, shaking his head as he stood. "You look beautiful." And she did. "And I look under dressed."
Josslyn smiled up at him as she reached out and took both of her hands, now warm, in his. "You look perfect." she said softly, and meant it. She didn't care what he wore, he was always wonderful. The servants had all slipped out to give them some privacy though Josslyn was so focused on Sean. she didn't even notice. "You always do."
Well it was hard to deny it when she seemed so insistent. "If you say so." he murmured. "So do you need to feed now?" he questioned, knowing she was probably hungry after being asleep all day.
She had made sure to feed behind the screen where he couldn't see, but his offer made her hungry all over again. She was finding other donors just didn't satisfy her now. "Maybe a little..." she said, her eyes going to his throat. "But I don't want to ruin our clothes..."
Sean hadn't realized she'd fed already, but the way she eyed his throat had him swallowing and wondering if perhaps she wanted him a little more than the donors she'd spoke of. "Oh. Well, I wouldn't want you to ruin your clothes... but mine aren't all that big a deal." he pointed out with a little shrug. "If you'd rather not, that's fine." he assured her.
Josslyn was in a white dress, but she figured she could always change if she got messy. The servants always left out two extra dresses in case she mussed herself and always assured her they were only a bell pull away. "Well, we can always change." she said with a smile and led him back to the couch, sitting and fussing with her skirts a bit. It was kind of a pain to sit in such a gown, but she was growing accustomed.
He followed her over to the sofa and settled beside her. "Is it weird for you to feed from people you don't really know?" he questioned. "I mean... not me but anyone else." he explained, hoping that he didn't sound completely ridiculous for the question.
She smiled at him and shrugged. "Sometimes. If it's a boy it's sort of weird, but daddy has been having them send me up females so it's not totally awkward...Honestly, the donors freak me out...I prefer feeding from...well you." she said and blushed.
He smiled, even if it was sort of strange to smile at such words. In all honesty, he was sort of jealous of the other donors, even the female ones. It was just such an intimate sort of act and knowing that other people got to experience that rubbed him the wrong way. He didn't say as much though. "Well you can now if you want to." he told her. "I don't mind."
Josslyn nodded and leaned in. Ever so gently she tilted his head, her eyes intense on the pulse in his throat. Josslyn leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to his neck before sinking her fangs into his neck, pulling him close. She couldn't help but moan as his blood spilled into her mouth and the fact she was getting it on her dress and his shirt didn't register now. He just tasted too darn good.
Sure, she'd done this before, but it was still a bit of a surprise to feel her fangs sink into his skin. He gasped and his body tensed briefly before he released into her grasp, eyes closing as the feeling washed over him. He wanted to speak, to say something, but no words seemed to register in his mind at that moment.
If she could, Josslyn would only ever feed from Sean. No blood tasted as good nor satisfied her as much. This time she was more careful and pulled away before she even took a whole pint. She brought her own wrist to her mouth and bit down, letting her blood flow and gently pressing it to his lips as she worked on licking his neck clean.
Drinking her blood was still new to him as well, but he did so regardless of the newness. He didn't drink much because he felt better after just a little bit. When he pulled his mouth from her wrist, he let out a little breath. "Feel better?" he questioned.
She pulled away from his throat once it was clean and healed, taking out a lacy handkerchief and trying to wipe some of the blood from her mouth, smearing it a bit. "Yes, thank you." she said softly, feeling that tugging toward him again. With each blood transfer she felt more tied to him. "Are you alright?"
Sean lifted his hand to gently brush a bit of blood she'd missed away from the corner of her mouth. "I'm fine." he promised her. So long as she was alright, that was all that mattered as far as he was concerned. He too felt that tugging inside of him, but he didn't mention it at that moment, far too content to just be near to Josslyn.
Josslyn smiled as he wiped her face a bit and couldn't help but to turn her head and kiss his fingertip. It felt so right, being close to him like this. More right than anything ever before. "Oh darn it...I did make a bit of a mess." she said, noting his shirt and her own dress. "I can give you a clean shirt...Um but...I'll need some help getting out of this dress and into another one..." She had more undergarments on than most full outfits modern girls wore so it wouldn't be something that would be naughty really...At least, she didn't think so.
His brows lifted when she commented about needing help to get in and out of her dresses. "Okay." he said simply, nodding a little. "I don't know how good I'll be at dressing you up like a princess, but I'll do what I can." he smiled.
Josslyn giggled and stood, first slipping into her father's room. The best she could find was a proper shirt, tie, and vest for him, which would likely make him feel better about being under dressed. She came back out with a little smile. "These should fit you alright." she said, offering the clothes.
Sean took the clothes from her and laid them on the back of the sofa long enough to pull his shirt up and over his head. He replaced his with the shirt she'd brought and slipped the vest over it. The tie, however, he sort of just looked at before glancing back at Josslyn. "Any idea how to tie this?" he questioned.
Her eyes roamed over him as he changed. She couldn't help herself. A smile came to her lips as he looked confused over the tie. "Sorry, here, let me help." she said, going to him. She gently took the tie from him, slipping it around his neck and tying it expertly. She liked being this close to him and she smiled up at him. "You look very handsome."
"I don't really wear ties." he explained as she tied the bit of fabric around his neck. Of course when she told him that he looked handsome, it was definitely worth wearing the darn thing. "Thanks." he smiled. "A little more with the times now." he chuckled.
Josslyn giggled. "It suits you well." she said, her eyes dancing. She went over to where her other dresses were laid out. She chose a green and white one that she suspected the gems on it were real diamonds. "Can you help me?" she asked as she slipped off the little over jacket that came with her white dress and turned her back to him to reveal the long row of small buttons down her back.
"Yeah." he said with a nod as he moved closer to her and began with the button closest to her neck. "No wonder it takes so long to get dressed." he commented. "It's a two person job at least." Women back in the day were obviously out of their minds. "Guess that's the prices for pretty dresses."
"This is the easy part. Having a corset laced is even worse." she said with a giggle as she felt his fingers working on the buttons of her dress. With each button he undid she felt something moving within her that made her heart race. "Thanks for the help." she murmured as he exposed her corset more and more.
"Sounds painful." he commented, though his eyes were starting to approve of the clothing more and more. There was something decidedly sexy about a corset, especially wrapped around a gorgeous, wispy little frame like Josslyn's. "It's not a problem." he told her as he unfastened the last button for her. "All done."
"Thanks." she said as she began to slide out of the dress slowly to expose her corset completely along with her semi sheer petticoats. Once it was off she turned to him with a smile. "I don't know how living people could wear these things. I don't have to breathe all that much and it's still a bit tight." she said with a giggle.
Sure she was pretty much clothed, a lot more than most girls he saw on a daily basis for that matter, but Josslyn in her petticoats and corset was enough to have his blood pumping in a southern direction. He felt a bit like a peeping tom and he flushed a little at his own thoughts. Still he tried to cover it up with a little chuckle that showed more of his nerves than he wanted.
His chuckle wasn't fooling her. Her sharpened senses mixed with how closely they were tied together and she could practically feel the blood pumping in his veins moving through her own and going south. Her cheeks went bright red and she picked up her new dress, her hands shaking a bit as she tried to figure out how to get the blasted thing on properly and only managed to get herself tangled up in cloth.
Sean forced his urges downward and tried to help her untangle herself from the dress. Finally succeeding, he held it out for her to step into. "See." he commented. "Told you it was a two person job."
Josslyn's cheeks were bright red at this point, but between the two of them they managed to get the dress on her. "Thanks." she said softly as she turned around once more to let him work on the buttons of this dress. "I'm sorry this is such a pain..."
He shook his head a little as he started to button the dress, this time from the bottom up. "I don't mind." he assured her. "You know I'll help you, whether it's buttons or anything else for that matter." he pointed out.
She relaxed a bit, a soft smile on her face as he buttoned her up. "I know...you have no idea how grateful I am for that." she said softly as she felt the last button to into place and she turned to him. She reached up to gently stroke his cheek. "Thank you...for everything."
Sean smiled and shrugged a bit. "You're welcome." he told her. "But you really don't need to thank me." he added. "I don't mind helping you. You help me all the time." he pointed out. "It's the least that I can do."
"Come on, let's go get some food." she said, confused by a lot of the feelings going through her. She took his arm, settling it the way it should to properly escort a lady and led him out of her suite through the halls and into the palace proper. "Down there is the gallery, that's the game room, there's all kinds of different parlors and such.." she explained and pointed as the walked through the halls, other vampires giving nods in greeting, all very polite and proper.
Sean still felt out of place, but in that moment it didn't matter. So long as he was with Josslyn, he was perfectly content to be in the palace. "How do you not get lost?" he asked.
Josslyn giggled as she led him into one of the almost restaurant style dining rooms. There was a set menu of a few choices but servants waited on you. They were seated and Josslyn smiled across from him as she looked over the menu. "Oh, they have lobster tonight." she said with a smile. "You get used to it after a while. It probably helps to have vampire senses and memory." she said with a smile.
"I've never had lobster." Sean said truthfully. He was a poor boy, after all, lobster was a fancy person's dinner and he sure as hell had never been anything close to fancy. "Is it good?" It was a valid question, he thought. It was still strange to be waited on, but he supposed if he spent enough time with Josslyn at the palace he would indeed get used to it. Maybe.
Her eyes lit up and she beamed at him. "It's amazing. You have to try it. I had it for the first time at the plantation and fell in love." she said with excitement. Josslyn was so happy to be spending time with Sean and sharing experiences with him, even simple things like trying a new food. Part of her was still clinging to her human life, some type of normalcy.
"The plantation?" he questioned. Well didn't that sound... very southern. When he thought of plantations, he thought of slaves hoeing rows of tobacco or picking cotton while singing old slavery tunes. He could almost see Harriet Tubman running through some bushes to get away from 'massa'. He blinked at his internal racism and shook his head a little. "That where you live when you're not at the palace?"
Truthfully, his internal racism wasn't too far off where her father's plantation was concerned. Jacob had all black servants and well, she remembered vividly the first night she met her father. "I think we live at the palace more, but we visit the plantation at least once a month. You should come sometime. It's beautiful and remote. Like a vacation." she said as a servant came to take their order and Josslyn asked for the lobster dinner for both of them. There were several courses of course.
Sean let her do all the talking when it came to ordering. He wasn't really sure how to act in the lap of luxury so he just let her go about doing what needed to be done. When the servant left them, his eyes flicked back to Josslyn. "Thank you. For just having me here." he told her. "I mean I know I came, but thanks for doing all this. I would have been happy just watching a movie or something." he admitted.
Josslyn reached across the table to take one of his hands. "If it was up to me, I'd keep you here." she said with a impish little smile. She found she hated being apart from him for any length of time and it was a struggle for her to leave his side before dawn.
That got a smile and a blush from the boy. "Oh?" he asked. "Why's that?" Hey, he could be curious. Besides, if she was going to make him blush, he wanted to make her blush a little too.
She did indeed blush as she stammered out her response. "I...don't like being away from you." she said and realized how crazy that sounded. "I'm sorry...Must be a vampire thing."
He shook his head. "No need to be sorry." he told her, reaching over to take her hand. "I don't like being away from you either, if I'm being honest." he admitted.
She looked up at him surprised. "Really?" she asked. She hadn't thought he'd felt the same. Part of her desire to be close was to keep him safe. He was human and fragile and she would be damned if anything every happened to him.
"Really." he told her with a little nod, giving her fingers a bit of a squeeze. "I don't know what it is." he shrugged. "But I've missed you and now that I know you're alright and where I can find you, I just don't want to be without you." he admitted.
Neither spoke of it in a way of a relationship but merely acknowledge the unfailing need to be with one another. "I wish you could just live here with me." she said longingly. Here she knew he would be safe and she could be with him at every moment to be sure of it.
He was surprised by those words. "You want me to live with you?" he asked her. That sounded more relationship-like than anything they'd said up until this point.
She realized what she had said and her cheeks bloomed bright red. "Well I mean...I live in a palace and sometimes a plantation so you can have your own room and still go to school and work and stuff but you'd live here with me." she said, thinking she should probably ask her dad first but all she could think about was keeping Sean close.
"Wouldn't that bother your father?" he questioned. "Or the queen that owns the palace?" He wanted to say yes, desperately, but he didn't want to cause any conflict. He certainly didn't want a vampire - or multiple ones for that matter - angry with him. He was just a lowly human after all. It wasn't like he could compete.
"Well, um, I suppose I should at least ask my dad..." she said, her face falling a bit. She hadn't thought Sean would want to and now that he did she wanted him to stay even more. "I'm sure he would say yes. I'll ask him tonight. If he says yes the queen will."
Sean sort of blinked at her. Everything was moving so fast, at least compared to how it had been going five seconds ago. Did all of this mean that she liked him more than as just a friend? "So... you want me to be your roommate?" he asked. Maybe that was the best way to broach the question.
It was surprising just how quick things had gone from friendship to...whatever this was. This insane desire to be close. "Is it ok to want that?" she asked, biting her lower lip. Roommate didn't sound quite right as it was more than wanting to cohabitate, but she would accept it as such for now.
"It's not that it's bad..." he said with a slight shrug. "I just... I don't know. I mean... does that mean... that you like... like me?" he asked, the words all being stumbled over. "I mean like... more than just like a friend or whatever?" What if she didn't? The words were already out there now and he was afraid of what would happen if he was way off base.
Josslyn's face turned bright red then and before she could even answer the servant came with their dinner. She was too flustered to even thank the boy properly but it seemed he could tell she was flustered and silently slipped away and left them alone. "I....I know it's more than it used to be...I don't know if I can explain it." she finally said in a soft voice. "I know I never want to be away from you, even just to sleep...So yes, I like you more than a friend...."
That relieved him and terrified the hell out of him all at the same time. "I like you too." Those were the first words that slipped out before his brain caught up with his mouth. "A lot. I always have. But... how does this all work?" he questioned. "I mean I want to be with you, Josslyn, in every way that there is, but you're a vampire and I'm a human and I don't even know if that's possible. I'm... disposable and you're... perfectly impenetrable. I feel like you could do so much better."
She couldn't believe the turn this night had taken. Her food was completely forgotten and she instead was completely focused on him. "Aren't there like, a billion books on it? And TV shows? I know that's fiction but I'm sure we could figure it out...and well, I don't think there's anyone better for me. They're not you."
"Well yeah there's books and movies and tv shows on it, but I'm not Sookie Stackhouse and you're sure as shit not Edward Cullen." he reminded her. That, however, didn't make him want to try any less. "So that means you want to be with me too then?" he questioned. "How do you think your dad is gonna handle that?"
"So you're not a whiny waitress and I don't sparkle in the sun. I fail to see how that's a bad thing." she said with a giggle, squeezing his fingers gently. "Yes I want to be with you...As for my dad well...er...I dunno?"
"Well I want to be with you too... but I don't want him to eat me." he told her honestly. Her father was a frightening man. And a vampire, an old as fuck vampire for that matter. His stomach churned uncomfortably just thinking about it. "So how are we going to tell him?"
The thought of anyone hurting Sean, even her own father, made her growl ever so slightly. "No one is going to eat you, I promise." she said. Josslyn wouldn't allow anyone to do that. She would fight the queen herself to protect him. "Do you want me to ask him first?" she asked.
Sean's brows went up when she growled. Especially at her father as it were, even if he wasn't there at the moment. "No." he said, shaking his head. "I mean I don't need to know he's happy with it to know I would be. I just don't want him upset either so I guess we can talk to him together, but I do want to be with you so we can just be together already when we talk to him." he shrugged. Did any of that even make sense?
It took Josslyn a moment to follow what he was saying, but once it made sense she smiled widely at him. "So you, Sean, are my boyfriend, and I am your girlfriend." she said, figuring it was time enough to put the proper label on what they were both dancing around.
He smiled at her. "Yeah." he told her. "I guess so." He was flushing a desperate shade of red at that point, but he tried not to let it be the center of attention. "So, let's eat. Then we can figure out what to say to your father." He hoped he'd survive that conversation.
