Invited in who: Josslyn & Sean what: Surprise visit when: Monday Night where: Sean's Apartment warnings: TBD
Josslyn had woken up that night and all she could think about was Sean. She was so worried about him and while she was glad he wasn't sleeping in the park anymore, he still wasn't well off. After asking Jacob if she could go out, she went down to the kitchen in the palace and raided them, making up a few bags of groceries for Sean before heading over to his house. She knew where he lived because she had followed him the other night to make sure he made it home safe. Since her own turning she was convinced disaster was around every corner and her human friends were in danger and needed looking after. Josslyn did everything she could to make sure they stayed safe, even if it was a little stalkery.
She had the driver that had brought her into the city go back, insisting she could make her way home on her own. Josslyn really needed to convince Jacob to let her have her own car. She felt silly be driven around all the time. When Josslyn knocked on Sean's door it occurred to her he would probably wonder how she knew where he lived. Oops.
Sean hadn't been expecting anyone that night. After he'd gotten out of class, he'd headed straight home and climbed into a hot shower, reveling in the feel of the warm spray. Showers were amazing when you spent so long not even having a shower to call your own. Afterward, he'd gotten himself dressed for bed in a pair of pajama bottoms and had just tossed his towel in the hamper when he heard the knock on the door. Arching a brow, he made his way towards it and looked through the peephole only to see Josslyn, arms laden with bags, on the other side.
Immediately he unlatched the door and pulled it open. "Josslyn?" he questioned, motioning for her to come in. "What are you doing here?" Which made him realize he'd never given her his address. "How'd you know where I lived?" he went on. "And what's with the bags?"
When he opened the door a bright blush came to her cheeks. He was in his pajamas which apparently meant he had no shirt on. The little blonde vampire was dumb-struck for several moments staring at him. He may of been a bit on the thin side from lack of nutrition, but she could see the wiry muscles he had. It took her a few moments to make her brain work and she stammered. "Um, well, I am a vampire and um we can find things and well I uh, wanted to bring you some food." she said. She went to step in then remembered. "You have to invite me in..." she said, biting her lower lip.
Vampires had to be invited in? Really? Maybe old legends and shit weren't as outdated as he liked to pretend. "Oh, okay." he said, giving her a little smile. "Come in." Once she was inside, he closed the door and latched it and then turned his attentions back to her. "Okay, so vampires can randomly find anyone?" he questioned, folding his arms over his chest, not quite believing that she just randomly figured out where he lived. "And you didn't have to buy me any food. I'm not starved ya know." he teased.
Once she had the invitation she stepped into his apartment. "Thank you..." she said and she really wanted to avoid answering that question but..."Well...I kinda followed you home the other night to make sure you made it safe. I'm not stalking you, I swear it's just....after what happened to me, I don't want to see anyone else get hurt." There, pure honesty. "And I didn't buy the food, I took it from the palace kitchens." She walked into his little kitchenette area and began to unpack the food. "What's caviar anyway?" she asked as she looked at the little jar she had grabbed.
Sean arched a brow at her as she started unpacking the food. When she said she just didn't want him to get hurt, he was already over her following him home. Really it was sort of endearing to know that the girl would take such great pains to keep him safe. "Shouldn't it be the guy making sure the girl is always safe?" he asked offhandedly as he moved towards her and let his arms drop to his sides as he leaned back against the counter top. "And caviar is fish eggs." he said, scrunching his nose up a bit.
"Not when the girl is a vampire." she said with a grin then looked at the jar. "Fish eggs? Ew." She tossed it in the trash since it didn't seem like he wanted it either, unaware the tiny little jar she threw out was worth over a thousand dollars. She had some normal stuff too. "This bread is amazing." she said as she pulled out some loaves of freshly baked bread. "You want something to eat or should I put everything away?"
He smiled a little at her sentiment. "Well I appreciate the vampire detail you put on me, but I'm a street kid, I'm pretty capable of defending myself. Don't you know I watch Tae-Bo infomercials?" he teased, making a mock karate pose just to get a laugh. "I ate already, but I can put the stuff away." he told her, shaking his head a little. "Are you going to take over mommy duty for me?" he teased, flashing her another smile. "Protecting me and feeding me? I feel like I have a sugar momma."
Josslyn realized she was trying to take care of him and blushed deeply, stepping back from the counter. "I'm sorry..." she said, assuming she had done something wrong. She had never wanted to protect someone like this before. She was convinced something bad was going to happen and she just had to look out for him. "I...I can just go..."
Immediately the smile disappeared because he didn't want her to go anywhere. "Aw, Joss, don't go." he said, shaking his head a little as he reached out to take her hands. "I'm just... used to taking care of myself and all this..." he said, looking around at the things she'd brought him, "It's just... you didn't have to do all of this and I guess I'm not all that great at taking handouts. Or help for that matter." he admitted.
She looked up at him and gave him a tiny smile. "It's not a handout...It's your friend bringing over some food...That's ok, right?" Josslyn had been blessed with so much since becoming a vampire and she just wanted to share what she had. She had always been that way, which was surprising considering how much of her life she had been taken advantage of.
He didn't want to make her feel like she'd done something wrong when she hadn't, so Sean nodded a little, releasing one of her hands so he could lift one of his to gently brush her hair back behind her ear. "Yeah." he told her. "That's okay."
Josslyn smiled a bit wider. "Good..." she said softly before she realized just how close they were standing. She blushed again and pulled back. "So, let's get all this away." she said, a little flustered as she began putting things away, moving faster than a human should. When she became flustered she had a tendency to lose a bit of control on herself.
He'd only been able to put a few things away in the time that it took Josslyn to nearly blur herself invisible putting the rest of the majority of the items away. By the time everything was finished, he blinked a little. "You're like... super fast. Side effect of the vampiredom?"
Josslyn blinked. "Oh crap...sorry. Um yea, I'm fast, my senses are all like, major intense.." She rubbed the back of her neck and gave him a smile, not realizing her fangs had descended as she wasn't concentrating.
And there were her fangs, glistening in the dimly lit kitchenette light. He blinked a little and couldn't help but stare at the pointy little teeth. "Right." he managed to comment as he continued to watch her. "You don't have to be sorry... it's just taking some getting used to, that's all."
Josslyn's brow furrowed as she could sense something changed, then she realized her fangs were out and covered her mouth. "I'm sorry..." she said, the apology a bit muffled under her hand. She closed her blue eyes and took several deep breaths. It took a few minutes but she got her fangs back where they belonged and she lowered her hand. "I'm sorry..."
There were more apologies and he shook his head and caught her face in both of his hands once she'd let her hand slide down from her mouth. "You don't have to be sorry." he told her. "You haven't done anything wrong. This is me we're talking about. Sean. Boring old Sean. Your friend. No need for apologies."
Every time he got so close to her, touched her, it sent her into fits. She had to close her mouth because out came her fangs again. She just nodded, then hugged him. She was glad Sean was back in her life. Even during shit times, he had been there and she was glad he was here for good times too.
He almost thought that maybe he was doing something to upset her, but when she hugged him, he felt a little better and let his arms slip around her to give her a gentle hug in return. "It's alright." he assured her, softly rubbing her back to comfort her. "I'm lucky to have a friend like you." he murmured.
"I'm lucky to have a friend like you too." she said softly, relaxing in his hold. She remembered on cold nights when they were stuck outside he would hold her like this to keep her warm. It seemed like such a long time ago, but his embrace made her feel as safe and warm as it did back then. "I won't let anyone hurt you ever...I'll protect you like you used to protect me."
"I wish I could have protected you that night." he told her, feeling a slight pang of guilt because he hadn't been with her when she was attacked by that wild vampire. "You know that I'll be here any time you need me from now on, right?" he said, hoping she'd take those words to heart.
Josslyn pulled back a bit so she could look at him. "Sean...I'm glad you weren't there. You could of been killed and I never would of forgave myself." she said, reaching up to touch his cheek. "I might have fangs now but....Becoming a vampire was the best thing that ever happened to me and...We can always be there for each other."
She did have a point. While she was a vampire, she at least had a home and people who cared about her. He didn't think that the fangs had so much to do with anything really. So long as she was safe and warm, he didn't care what sort of label she fell under. "Always." he agreed with a little nod. He liked the way that the simple word sounded on his lips. Always.
