Permission Granted
Who: Sebastian and Elizabeth
What: Permission for courting
When: Monday Night following his walk with Genevieve
Where: The palace
Warnings: N/A
Sebastian wanted to make sure with his sister that it was alright with her for him to be courting Genevieve. He was a man who knew what he wanted and aimed to get it, but he was still a proper one. If he couldn't ask her father for permission, he'd ask her employer. He made his way through the palace to Elizabeth's office after he'd took Genevieve back to her room. He knocked lightly on the door and when he was given permission to enter, he did so, flashing a smile at his sister when she came into view. "Hello, your majesty." he murmured, bending at the waist in a little bow of respect. "How are you this fine evening?"
Elizabeth had been going over some documents concerning the treasury. Boring things, but things she had to deal with none the less. When her brother came into her office and bowed to him, she smiled, and set aside her work happily. Standing, she went to him and kissed his cheek. "Good evening, brother." she said. "You really needn't call me majesty in private. Here I am your sister, Elizabeth." She leg him to a sitting couch and sat, inviting him to sit beside her. "Shall I ring for some refreshment?"
He smiled at her. "Well, then good evening, Elizabeth." he corrected himself before following her over to the couch and settling in beside her. "No, you don't have to do that, I just came to ask something of you." he began. "I want to speak with you about your seamstress, Genevieve."
She looked at him curiously as he asked about Genevieve. "Of course you may. Has something happened?" she asked. Genevieve was a very kind woman and talented at her craft. She couldn't think of anything the girl would do to offend anyone, much less the Queen's own brother.
"Well nothing negative." he told her, shaking his head a little. "It's just, you see, that I've found myself quite taken with her and I'd like to court her. However, since this is your palace, I'd like to as your permission before doing such a thing." he explained to his sister. "I don't know what it is about her, but I like her."
Elizabeth certainly wasn't expecting this conversation. Genevieve was a sweet girl, to be sure, but she was human. Humans were fragile, temporary things. "I see. Well, I certainly won't stop you, Sebastian, but I will ask if you plan on turning her if she accepts you." She didn't want to see her brother hurt simply because of Genevieve's mortality.
He shook his head. "No." he told her. "I've yet to make any other vampires." he admitted. "The one time I tried, it didn't end very well and thus I don't plan on subjecting anyone to my immortal life. I merely wish to spend all the time I have with Genevieve with her. With your blessing of course. I'd like to provide for her and for her child." he said to Elizabeth. "Like I said before, there's just something about her."
A small smile came to her lips as she observed her brother. Something about Genevieve moved him and of course, it was not as if Elizabeth could deny him anything. "You have my permission to court her, Sebastian." she said. "I hope it goes well for you."
A smile slid over his lips. A crooked one that quirked up one side of his lips a bit higher than the other. "Marvelous." he breathed, a sound of relief. That had gone easier than he thought it would. "She's a wonderful seamstress, but I'm sure you're aware of that. She finished one of my garments and the work is just exquisite."
That smile made her shiver a bit. Her father had smiled exactly like that. It was a bit haunting. "Her work is magnificent, it's true. I will miss it if you sweep her off her feet." she said and offered him a crooked smile of her own. He wasn't the only one who had gotten that trait from their father.
"Well even if I do sweep her off her feet, I plan to stick around Toronto." he told her. "I feel like far too much time has passed for you and I, dear sister. I plan on atoning for my part in that at least. If you'll have me, that is."
Elizabeth gently took his hands in hers. "Sebastian, you are my brother and somehow we have managed to find one another after centuries. You are always welcome here and I want nothing more than for you to stay." she said with a smile. "I am happy you have so quickly found a woman who interests you. It does me good to see you happy and I do hope you and Genevieve will have a good life. I cannot see how she would not be enamoured with you and it is my wish for you to have your family here in the palace."
With just a few words his sister had made him very happy and the smile upon his face said as much, mirroring the woman's. "Thank you." he told her firstly as he did very much so appreciate her blessings and well wishes. "I suppose we'll see if she's enamoured with me." he chuckled.
With a chuckle Elizabeth leaned over and kissed his cheek. "She would be a fool not to be and Genevieve certainly is no fool." she said with a smile. "I know you will be gentle and kind to her, which she needs after the father of her child left her as he did." Elizabeth had every intention of finding the bastard and making sure he never bothered Genevieve again if he had some kind of desire to get back in her life. No man should leave their woman in such a state. "Court her well, Sebastian." she said as the phone on her desk began to beep indicating she had a call. With a sigh she stood. "As much as I hate to have to leave to get back to my work, duty calls." She gave him another kiss on the cheek. "We will speak again soon."
Sebastian too stood and leaned in to kiss his sister on her cheek as well. "We will." he agreed. "I'm sure next time we speak I'll have much more to tell you." he grinned. "I'll leave you to it, then. Hopefully you won't be completely overwhelmed by all your work. Do let me know if you need anything." he went on as he headed for the door. "Goodbye, Elizabeth."
She smiled at him as she went back to her desk. "Goodnight, brother. I can't wait to hear how things go between you and Genevieve." With that she dismissed him and went back to her work, though her mind was more on her brother and Genevieve than treasury reports.
