Shopping Peril
Who: Cleo and Colin
What: Engagement ring shopping and dinner
When: Friday night
Where: Around town
Warning: None
Colin had come home from work on Friday and headed straight for the shower as usual. Tonight he took more time than usual though, shaving and making sure he scrubbed off as much of the grease and oil from everywhere as possible. Including washing his hair twice. Once he decided he was as clean as he was going to get, he emerged from the shower and started digging around for his rarely worn going out clothes. He had nice slacks and button down shirts in here...somewhere.
Cleo had her own shower earlier in the day and had gotten herself dressed in a cute little sweater dress and had tried to wrangle with her messy hair. Eventually she'd just pulled it back with a headband and let it be. She'd been upstairs helping with Amy for a bit while Colin too his shower and was just returning when she saw him ruffling through the drawers, his backside towards her. She smirked a little and whistled at him. "Hey there, gorgeous."
Okay, he probably should have dug out his robe (not that he knew where that was either), but Colin hadn’t liked it before he became a were. Now he was just as comfortable naked as he was not, so long as he was alone. Or alone with Cleo. “Hey baby,” he greeted, chuckling at the wolf whistle. “I’m trying to find something nice to wear. I can’t remember the last time I dressed up to go out.” Which meant his dress clothes could possibly still be packed. He ducked into the back of the closet and hauled out a box. Opening it up, he frowned. Nope, pictures and high school yearbooks and all that crap. He set it aside and dug deeper. “I should have thought of this earlier in the week.”
Cleo was amused at the way he moved around the room looking for nice clothes. "You don't have to dress up." she told him. "I like you in anything, but especially when you're naked like that. How bout we stay in?" she teased, eyes wandering over his body longingly. Not that she wanted to miss going out to look at rings, but he was just so delicious looking.
“I am not going to hit jewelry stores looking for a ring dressed like I usually do,” he told her. “Besides, I promised you dinner. Which means I have to be presentable. Or as close to presentable as I get.” Oh, here was a box marked clothes even. Score. Pulling it out, he opened it up. Thank God Becky had been smart enough to pack dryer sheets in with his clothes. While they didn’t smell freshly cleaned, they weren’t musty from being stored for months. He chuffed out a laugh. “Like you can’t have me later. Hell, it’s Friday night. You can have me as many times as you want.” He gave her a pointed look. “After dinner and shopping. If we get started now, we’re never getting out of here.” Really, once they got going, it didn’t end until one or both of them were exhausted. So yeah, behaving until after.
She pouted a little, but it was just for show really. Cleo wanted to go out on the town with her man as much as she wanted that ring on her finger. She wanted everyone to know that he was hers and get to show him off a little. She couldn't help it. He was hers and she wanted the world to know it. "I think the way you normally look is just fine, but I suppose it depends on where you're taking me for dinner."
Colin let out a long breath. “Cleo, they wouldn’t let me in the door anyplace decent the way I usually dress,” he said as he shook out a blue cotton/poly button down shirt and found the dark blue Dockers he wore with them. He had a pair of black oxfords he never wore anywhere near the shop. That would have to be good enough. “Okay, getting dressed now before you get any ideas about distracting me.” He stopped long enough to kiss Cleo, then disappeared into the bathroom again to get dressed.
She smiled at him as he picked out his clothes. The blue shirt would definitely bring out those gorgeous eyes of his, but she didn't comment on it just yet. "Fine." she told him. "Hurry up. I wanna see what you look like all cleaned out."
Colin got dressed quickly and combed out his hair again. He thought about tossing on some cologne, but the last time he’d tried it, the smell made him sick until he washed it off. So he passed on that one. Stepping out of the bathroom, he turned around slowly to model for her. “Do I look presentable?” he asked teasingly.
Cleo whistled at him again, a large grin sliding over her face. "You look gorgeous." she murmured as she made her way over to her man. "Gorgeous enough that I can tell you right now that tonight I am going to do horribly wicked things to you and you're going to love every second of it." she smiled, leaning up to catch his lips as her fingers found his.
He grinned as she complimented him and promised to do wicked things to him. Colin kissed Cleo back, unable to resist letting his hands slide down to her ass and squeezing it. He let out a hungry growl into her mouth. “Like you don’t do wicked things that I love to me every night,” he murmured against her lips before kissing her again.
She couldn't help but groan a little when he squeezed her ass. "Well you'll get more wicked things that you'll love tonight." she smiled, kissing him once more. "Now we better get out of here if we want to ever leave the house."
Colin sighed and nodded, releasing her. “You ready then?” he asked. He figured she might want to fuss over her hair and makeup. No matter how good she looked, girls always did that. It was just a thing with them.
He was quite right in assuming that she was going to fuss a bit about her appearance. She glanced into the mirror briefly and checked her make-up and fluffed her hair a bit. "Okay, now I'm ready." she told him, lacing her fingers through his and nodding towards the stairs. "Let's get outta here."
Okay, that was not as bad as he was expecting. Colin happily took her hand and led her out to his car. “So where to first?” he said. “Ring or food?” It was her call, he didn’t care either way. This night was supposed to be special for her more than anything.
"Food." she said after a brief moment of thought. "If we go ring shopping first, knowing my picky ways, we might never get to dinner." she admitted. "I'm betting we spend most of the night looking at rings for just the right one. So yeah, dinner first, then ring shopping, then taking my fiance home and ravishing him. I think that sounds like a plan."
“Sounds like a plan,” he agreed as he made sure she was settled into the car before closing the door, then heading around to the driver’s side. “I love you,” Colin added as he bucked himself in, smiling at Cleo.
"I love you too." Cleo murmured, a smile slipping over her lips. It was hard not to love Colin when he was so attentive and lavishing her with attention the way that he was. Any girl would be crazy not to love him as much as Cleo did. Dinner went fairly smoothly, despite her efforts to torture him with little glances here and there and suggestive comments. By the time the got to the jewelry store to look at rings, she was practically aching for him. Lacing her fingers through his, she glanced in the first case of wedding band sets and let her eyes move over the sparkly items inside. "Some of these are just gorgeous." she commented. "See anything you like?"
Colin really didn’t want to look at rings anymore. Not that he really cared what she chose, since he didn’t have to wear the ring himself. “Whatever you want, baby,” he told her. “I’m not picky about bands, just so long as there’s nothing to catch on stuff or fall out for my wedding band.” Yeah, not really helpful, but he had no opinion really. “Just remember to tell the clerk no silver.” That would be bad, even if she accidentally touched it. Actually, the smell of it in here was making him kind of queasy. But he didn’t tell Cleo that.
Men. They really never did have any opinions, did they? Cleo continued to look and after a moment or two she found a set that looked like white gold and it was beautiful and the groom's band wasn't too showy and didn't seem to have any pieces that would get in the way with Colin's job. "What about those, love?" she asked, pointing them out to Colin. "They're not too flashy and not overly expensive in comparison to the rest of the stuff. What do you think?"
He really should have thought about the silver stink and eaten after ring shopping. Colin pinched the bridge of his nose, moving towards the section Cleo indicated. He’d better take a look before his eyes started watering. The rings she indicated were pretty, the man’s wedding band had engraving, but it was low profile and there were no settings. “I like them,” he admitted, before sneezing. “Let’s get them and get out of here. This place stinks like a silver mine.”
She smiled at him. "How bout we just say we want them and have them delivered later on?" she suggested. "Get you out of here before your nose explodes." Her own felt pretty bad but she was doing the best she could to not think about it. Silver wasn't exactly her favorite smell after all. She too was a were and it wasn't just cursed ones that had issues with silver. "I think I might be sick if I stick around here too long." she admitted.
“Good plan,” he said. Fittings and stuff needed to be done, but maybe they could find a were-friendly jeweler for that. “This much silver can’t be good for you or the baby.” He went and found the clerk and paid for the rings, declining an in store fitting and paid for the delivery next week. He’d definitely need to call around. Somebody had to cater to weres around here for stuff like jewelry fitting. By the time that was done, his eyes were burning from the smell and his stomach was threatening to rebel. He took a deep breath as soon as he got outside. “Fuck, that was awful.”
Cleo frowned a little once they were out of the jewelry store. "Maybe we should have done the shopping first." she commented. "I'd forgotten how much non-weres like silver." she told him, letting out a soft sigh as they made their way towards the car. "I'm sorry."
“Next time, we’ll shop online,” he said. “That can’t have been any more fun for you.” He nodded. “One of the first things Becky had to do when I showed back up. Get rid of every scrap of silver in the house. It was a pain in the ass.” He kissed Cleo. “It’s okay. Let’s get out of here and go home.”
She gave him a soft little smile and nodded at his comment about going home. Home sounding perfect right about now and she was looking forward to curling up with her man. For the moment, things felt pretty damn good.
