I'm not so good at dating Who: Declan and Fable What: A date When: Wednesday Evening Where: A gourmet pizza restaurant and a boat on the lake by Declan's home Warnings: Make-out sessions
Declan had been nervous the whole afternoon leading up to his date with Fable. Thankfully he'd gotten over those nerves when they'd sat down to dinner at the nice gourmet pizza parlour he'd made reservations at. It was a pretty swanky place and she fit right in with that gorgeous, curve hugging red dress she had on. His own outfit had thankfully not been too casual for the evening out with her and he was glad that it wasn't over yet. After their pizza, they ordered a dessert to share and it had just arrived at the table. With a thank you to the waiter, he walked away and Declan's eyes moved over Fable's face. "You really do look beautiful." he told her. "If I haven't already said it about twenty times, it's still true." Okay, so he was awful at dating, he couldn't help it.
Fable too had been nervous about this whole date. She really liked Declan and wanted it to go well. She had broken out the red dress she had paid a ridiculous amount for but had never worn. She had to admit she looked good and Declan's appreciation made her glow. She smiled at him as she picked up her fork. "Thank you again." she said with a chuckle before taking a bite of the tiramisu, which was to die for and caused her eyes to flutter. "Wow. You have to try this." she said, putting another piece on her fork and offering it to him.
He was glad she didn't tell him to shut up or that he needed to stop complimenting her. He couldn't help it, he was sort of new to this whole dating thing in a way since his last date had been in high school. Not that it had really been much of a date if he thought about it. When she offered him that bit of dessert, he leaned over to take it off the fork. "Mmm." he commented as he swallowed it down. "That is good." Not as good as her kisses, but definitely good.
She grinned at him and she too was thinking of how wonderful his kisses were. It was actually hard to be seated across from him. Fable wanted to be close to him, touching him, very badly. She slid her foot out of her shoe and took another bite of the dessert, letting her foot slide up his leg. "Want another bite?" she asked softly, her eyes on his.
He bit his lower lip as her toes teasingly slipped up his leg. He wanted a bite, that was for sure, but not of that dessert. "S-sure." he murmured, eyes moving from the dessert to her lips. God those lips. It should really be considered a crime to have lips that perfect.
Those lips he were staring at curled into a smile. She put another bite on her fork and fed it to him, watching his lips slide over the fork. Damn, he was ridiculously sexy. Fable couldn't believe a guy as hot as he was was interested in her. She had always been the chubby girl and even after she had lost some weight, she was no runway model. "Any plans after this?"
Declan thought she was drop dead gorgeous. He smiled at her question and nodded a little. "Well if you don't have to be home just yet, I thought we'd go out on the lake..." he shrugged. "If you want to."
Fable couldn't help how her face lit up, a wide smile on her face. "I'd love to." she said and took another bite of the dessert, this time drawing it out as she kept her eyes locked on his. "Whenever you're ready to go."
She was evil, plain and simple. The way she ate that piece of tiramisu had him thinking horribly dirty things that he shouldn't be thinking about on a first date. It was difficult to even tear his eyes away from her lips to respond to her. "I'm ready." he told her as he reached into his pocket to pull out the money to pay for dinner. "I'll try not to keep you out too late."
Fable smiled as she set down her fork. "I'm a big girl, I'm allowed out past curfew." she said with a wink as he paid the bill. She let him help her put on her jacket and escort her outside. "Thank you so much for dinner, it was delicious. And I certainly enjoyed the company."
Declan had spent most of the night smiling so that didn't stop now as he led her to his truck and helped her inside the passenger side of it. "You're welcome." he told her. "I enjoyed the company too. Not really ready to say goodnight just yet so I'm glad you agreed to some time on the lake." he said to her as she settled in her seat. "I was afraid you might be ready for me to leave you alone since I'm so obviously bad at first dates. It's been a while."
Fable had to admit she liked his truck. She wouldn't admit on how many times she had fantasized of the two of them and naughty things in his truck. It had been a while, but her attraction to Declan was more intense than any she had ever felt. "You're not bad at first date. At least, not any worse than me." she said with a chuckle, reaching out to pat his hand.
That made him feel a little better about his dating skills. "Well I'm glad I haven't blown it yet." he told her. "I like you. A lot. And I just don't want to mess it all up. Briar would kill me if he thought I made a mess of things." he admitted with a little smile sliding over his lips.
Fable smiled back at him and let her hand slide into his. "You haven't made a mess of anything, promise." she said, her eyes wandering over him. Her mind had been on him all day and there was likely nothing he could do to make a mess of it.
Her reassurances were welcomed and he smiled again. "Good." he told her, giving her fingers a little squeeze before reluctantly releasing her hand and closing the door for her. He made his way around to his side of the truck and climbed inside. Once he was buckled in and they were en route to his place, he slid his hand across the space between them to take her hand in his again.
She smiled as they headed back toward the lake, pleased that he took her hand again. "Your truck is going to be useful when the snow starts next month. Getting out from where we are is a serious pain. I have a snow mobile I use in the winter." she said with a chuckle. Yea, she was talking about the weather. She was so fucking lame.
He didn't care what she was talking about so long as she kept talking to him. "Well if you ever need a ride, lemme know." he told her. "We both get up pretty early anyways and it wouldn't be a problem." He actually hoped she'd take him up on the offer so he'd get to spend more time with her.
"Thanks. I'll probably take you up on that." she said with a smile, squeezing his hand gently. Fable was excited when they finally pulled up to his house and eagerly got out of the car. She could already feel the lake calling to her and she closed her eyes, inhaling the smell of the water. It made her aura shift and the lake shifted a bit as if trying to get to her.
"Awesome." he said, a little smile on his lips. Once at his house and out of the truck, he took her hand again and led her out to the dock on his bit of the lake. It now housed a little rowboat he'd purchased if only so he'd be able to visit her more easily. "Hopefully this thing is a good investment." he commented.
Fable grinned as they headed out to the dock and saw the little boat. "Considering it's a lot shorter to get between our houses by going across the lake instead of aaaaaaall the way around, it's definitely a good investment." she said with a chuckle, slipping off her heels and tossing them in the boat before letting him help her into it.
Once he'd helped her climb into the boat, Declan settled into the watercraft himself and untied it from the dock. Reaching for the oars, he guided them away from the dock and further out onto the lake. It had rained earlier in the day, but even if it was still raining Declan doubted it would have kept him off the lake. Once they were in the middle of the lake, he locked the oars into the holders on the edge of the boat and glanced across at Fable. Did she have to be so pretty in the moonlight? He found himself staring at her without even realizing it.
Fable was happy to be this close to her lake again. She trailed the fingers of her right hand in the water as Declan rowed, smiling softly. Once the boat settled out in the middle of the lake, she looked to Declan and saw his staring. It made her giggle. "See something you like?" she asked teasingly.
He flushed at her question, but nodded all the same. "Yeah." he admitted. He definitely saw something he liked. "I'd tell you that you're beautiful again, but if I keep saying it, I'm going to wear it out."
She laughed and moved carefully to the other side of the boat, sitting beside him. "I think it's safe to say no woman ever tires of hearing she's beautiful." she said, smiling up at him.
That got him to smile and he gently slipped his arm around her shoulder. His other hand lifted and he tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear. "Well, in that case, you're beautiful."
Fable smiled and leaned into his hold. "Thank you. Did I mention how handsome you are?" She had when he had picked her up and part of her had wanted to drag him into her house then. She was becoming a bit animalistic when it came to him. It made her wonder if this was how a were felt.
"I think you have." he told her. "But thank you all the same." If there was one way to describe how it felt to be with Fable, it was to say that she was like the moon and the waves within him wanted nothing more than to answer the pull she had over him. The smile couldn't seem to fade from his lips when she was around, even as he leaned in a little, pressing a gentle kiss to the corner of her mouth before shifting a bit and kissing her fully on her lips.
Fable had been looking forward to this kiss all night. She shivered at his first press of lips then let her eyes drift closed as he kissed her fully. Fable kissed him in return, her arms slipping around him as she slid closer to him.
A fleeting thought that the boat might tip if he let himself get carried away rushed through Declan's mind only to be pushed away by the feel of her perfect lips moving against his own. His fingers slipped into her hair, tangling amidst the dark locks as he gently nipped at her lower lip and gave it a little tug, eyes opening to catch hers. "I've been wanting to do that all night..." he admitted, though he didn't move his lips far from hers.
When Declan kissed her, Fable never felt so right. He called to her like the water did and welcomed her home in a way she loved. She smiled, stroking his cheek as their lips parted. "Next time, don't wait all night." she murmured before kissing him again.
He would have responded, but her lips were on his again and he couldn't seem to bring himself to pull away to say anything to her. Instead he just kissed her as if he were trying to make up for not kissing her all night.
Fable carefully slid into his lap as they kissed, careful not to rock the boat too much. It would likely put a kibash on their making out of they fell into the water. Her soft hands cupped his face as her lips moved over his, her chest rising and falling quickly with her rapid breath.
It was difficult to think when her mouth was against his. She was soft and warm and so inviting and he wanted nothing more than to do even more than they were currently doing. When he pulled his lips away to draw in a shaky breath, he couldn't help but smile at her. "I wish I could tell you how delicious you taste, but there isn't a word."
When he puled away she couldn't help the tiny whimper that sounded from her. Fable never wanted him to stop kissing her. Of course considering how long she could hold her breath for, it wasn't a fair thing. She smiled at his compliment. "And you are just....indescribable yourself."
That had the grin broadening. He liked being described as indescribable almost as he loved feeling her mouth against his. "Guess that means this date has been a success?" he questioned.
Fable ran her fingers through his hair with a smile. "I would say it has been a rousing success. Such a success, actually, I insist we do it again...And again, and again." she said with a giggle.
"Oh, is that right?" he asked, unable to keep from chuckling a little at her words. "Guess I can't refuse such insistence." he smiled, leaning in for another little kiss. "You have no idea how happy Briar'll be that I didn't muck things up, but I'm betting he pesters you to come hang out all the time now. You'll have a standing invitation at our dinner table."
She chuckled, her lips beginning to trail over his neck. "See, now you know how to cook whereas I don't. Give me a standing invitation you'll be feeding me constantly." she murmured against his skin. "I can have a....big appetite."
He smiled at that. "I think I wouldn't mind your appetite at all." he told her. "In fact, I hope that you'll come over as much as possible. I'd love to satiate that appetite."
Fable didn't want to rush things with Declan. Usually when she rushed things, she screwed them up. Of course, Declan himself was so irresistible, she wanted nothing more than to jump him. She was warring with herself, to say the least. She kissed her way back to his lips with a smile. "I'd be over every night at that point." she said before kissing him again.
He grinned at her words, kissing her back and letting his hands move over her cheeks to cup her face in his palms. "I really like you, Fable." he told her. "And whatever this is, it feels nice. I want it to keep feeling nice so if I get all clingy and obnoxious, just slap me or something. I don't want to make a mess of a good thing." Especially considering how long it had been since he'd even considered dating someone.
Fable smiled softly. "I really like you too, Declan..." she said softly. "I promise not to let you mess this up if you promise me the same thing...I'm not much better at this dating stuff." she said, which was very true. Fable had avoided serious dating for a long time but Declan wasn't an opportunity she was going to let pass by.
"I promise not to let you mess things up either." he assured her with a little nod. He wanted this to work out more than he could even put into words. Kissing her once more, he let out a soft contented little noise. Everything was right for a moment with nothing but the night, Fable and the soft lapping of the water beneath their boat.
