Max stared at Jayne for a second, blinking. "Really?" he asked, then kissed her again. "Yeah, and you wonder why I love you. After everything you've already done for me and my family, you want to help more? God, Jaynie, you're awesome." It just amazed him how much she was willing to just do out of the kindness of her heart. "I don't even remember what it's like not to live in a hotel." The world seemed kind of big and scary again when he realized that. Of course, big and scary had never stopped him before, so he could handle it. Especially with Jayne and his family around.
Oh shit, the necklace. "No, I gave it to Mouse," he explained. "Josh broke pretty damned hard when Eli told him he was a psychic now and I confessed about what happened with you. Just in case he does something stupid, I figured she'd need it more than I do. And if he doesn't at least call by Monday night, we can use it to find them if needed." He looked kind of sheepish. "You're not mad, are you?" There was a chance she'd be upset, although he doubted she would because she'd been so crazy generous so far.
