I'll always be daddy's girl Who: Jacob and Josslyn What: Father/Daughter bonding When: Friday evening following the execution of Viola Where: The Palace Warnings: None
Jacob was thankful for the shower following the execution of the little blond bitch who'd spit in his face. Good riddance to the little whore. He'd taken long enough to wash up because the last thing he wanted Josslyn to see was him covered in blood. By the time he reached their suite, he was clean and freshly dressed in his usual clothing, a throwback as always to his time as a human. He entered the suite and closed the door behind him, expecting to find Josslyn there waiting and he did. He gave the girl a little smile. "Hello, love." he murmured as he moved to sit beside her at the small table where she was seated. "I trust you slept well."
Being as busy as he had with all things Viola, he hadn't had much time in the last night or day to spend with Josslyn and he fully intended on changing that. She was practically his daughter now as far as he was concerned and it was wrong of him to spend so much time away from her, especially given how nearly hysterical the poor girl got after too much time apart.
Josslyn had been going a bit mad since Jacob had been doing business for the Queen. Everyone seemed to be very careful not to tell her what he was doing, but she had heard tidbits from the staff. Apparently he had been dealing with the bad vampire that had been brought in. She had been left by herself. Josslyn had kept to their suite and had barely slept waiting for him to return.
When Jacob finally came through the door she let out a sigh of relief. She had been wearing dresses from his time so she would look like he wanted her to when he came home. She smiled as he sat down and gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Welcome back." she said.
Jacob didn't want to give Josslyn any real details about his evening so he'd been pretty secretive. He knew she was a smart girl, but she was fragile and she didn't need to be exposed to the bad parts of life just yet. She had all the time in the world to know what sorts of things went on behind the palace walls when vampires got out of hand, but she didn't need to know it all just yet. He smiled when she gave him a hug and that kiss to his cheek. "Thank you, darling. Are you well this evening?" he questioned.
Josslyn glowed at his pet names for her, ringing for a maid to bring them sweet tea. She was getting used to having people wait on her hand and foot. She sort of liked it actually. It was nice to relax and not have to worry about anything. "I am much better now." she said brightly. "Are you finished with your service for the Queen?" she asked, hoping he would be around for a while. Since coming to the palace he always seemed to be busy, leaving her to entertain herself. Josslyn was still too timid to venture out and make friends.
"Yes." he said with a nod. "I am finished for now unless she calls me with other deeds." he smiled. He was fairly certain that the queen wouldn't call him for a little while now that this situation had been taken care of. She had plenty of things to keep her occupied that wouldn't need his attentions. "You didn't worry yourself into a tizzy while I was away, did you?" he questioned.
Sweet tea and little cakes were brought by a maid who quickly excused herself, leaving the pair alone. Josslyn blushed when he asked if she spent the entire time he was away worrying. "I did miss you." she admitted as she poured his sweet tea like a proper lady for him. Elizabeth had scheduled all kinds of lessons for her and etiquette was one of them.
"Well I missed you to, love." he assured her. And he had. He would have much rather have been spoiling Josslyn than torturing a whore, but duties were duties and Elizabeth was his queen and he'd serve her as such. Jacob watched as she poured his sweet tea and he couldn't help but arch a brow though it was appreciatively. He smiled and felt like he was back home in Louisiana for a moment. "Thank you." he murmured as he reached out to take the glass and took a little sip of it.
She smiled at him as she poured her own tea and set the pitcher down. "You're welcome." she said, sipping her own tea. She had never had sweet tea before until Jacob had brought her to the plantation. She had taken a liking to it. "I've been reading some of your books. I hope that's ok..." she said, sipping her own tea once more.
Jacob smiled at her as he sat his tea down again. "That's more than alright, Josslyn dear. Did you find anything that you took a liking to?" he questioned, arching a brow curiously. He couldn't help but wonder what in his vast stash of books might have caught her eye.
"Yes, I found several books on vampire history. They're fascinating." she said excitedly. She was a scholar in her own right and she loved just how much history there was to know now that she was part of the supernatural world. "If I have your permission to, I was wondering if I could go to the library?"
Again he smiled. That was his girl. She was a smart one, he already knew that. This only seemed to prove it. He also quite approved that she asked permission, even if he didn't mind at all if she went off to the library. "You're more than welcome to go to the library, darling." he assured her. "I'm sure you'll find even more fascinating things in there." he admitted.
Josslyn beamed. "Thank you, daddy....I mean Jacob." she said with a bright blush. It had just slipped out. With all of his terms of endearment for her it just felt natural to call him daddy. She felt as if she was the father she had been dreaming of her whole life.
Jacob couldn't help but smile a little at that little slip up. A sad smile because it reminded him of his own daughter calling him that so many years ago, but not an unhappy smile. He shook his head a little and reached out to brush his fingers across her cheek. "You don't have to flush or worry yourself on that little slip." he assured her. "I don't mind if you want to call me that." he admitted. "I've actually quite missed hearing that word in reference to me." he told the girl.
A smile like had never been seen lit up her face and she practically threw herself at him, hugging him tightly. "Then I'll call you daddy." she said, never feeling happier then she did right then. She was finally going to have a real family. With a real dad.
He was surprised by the hug, but he smiled all the same, slipping his arms around her tiny frame. He was just as happy as she was, in all honesty. The thought of her thinking of him like a father brought a smile to his face as he held her. "Alright, love. You do that." he murmured, lightly patting her back.
